Hyundai Modern Jeepneys: Set to drive Cavite enterprises in the new normal

Hyundai Trucks and Buses Philippines, the country’s official distributor of Hyundai commercial vehicles, through Hyundai Trucks and Buses Alabang, turned over the first batch of 120 units of purchased Hyundai HD50S Class 2 Modern Jeepneys to Gardenia Kapit-Bisig, one of Bacoor City’s leading multi-purpose cooperatives with a broad membership engaged in the businesses of transport, water refilling, and travel tours in Metro Manila and CALABARZON.

Public transport modernization is a key program of Gardenia Kapit-Bisig.

The turnover was graced by Bacoor mayor Hon. Lani Mercado-Revilla and LTFRB Region 4 Director Col. Renwick Rutaquio. Mayor Revilla noted that the presence of modern jeepneys in Bacoor signals progress in local government efforts to transform Bacoor into a smart city.

While Col. Rutaquio declared that Region 4 is making headway in its push for PUV modernization. Mayor Revilla, who did a test ride of one of the turned over units, observed that these will provide commuters a cool, comfortable, and safer ride. Mr. Maxwell Quilat, COO of Hyundai Alabang, Inc. assured the group of providing not only the best products possible, but also the best maintenance service at the company’s dealerships in Alabang, Las Piñas, and Silang, Cavite.

The presence of more Hyundai HD50S Class 2 Modern Jeepneys in Cavite is expected to give the transport sector a much-needed boost. Powered by a 2.9-liter Euro 4-compliant CRDi engine, the HD50S Modern Jeepney provides better fuel efficiency, reliability, and cleaner emissions. It is designed for enhanced stability and power-to-weight ratio, boasting a 3,415-millimeter wheelbase. The vehicle also features roof-mounted air conditioning, AFCS, Wi-Fi, GPS tracking, CCTV cameras, 7-inch monitor, and speed limiter. It can accommodate 22 seated passengers as well as up to 10 standing commuters. It is also equipped with the requisite contactless payment system, individualized seating, and plastic dividers to ensure social distancing for the riding public.

It received the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Certificate of Compliance (COC) in 2019 along with the Hyundai H-100 Class 1 Modern Jeepney. This year, the Hyundai HD50S Class 3 was also granted its COC, making Hyundai the first and only player in the Philippines’ Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) with a full lineup of Modern Jeepneys that meet Philippine National Standards (PNS).

Through HARI CV Sales Head Mr. Monch Osorio, Hyundai Trucks and Buses President Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo sent her well wishes to the company’s latest “partner in every way,” likening the turnover to the traditional Christmas exchange of gifts: from Hyundai to Kapit-Bisig, “the gift of safe, reliable, and comfortable mobility” and from Gardenia Kapit-bisig to Hyundai, “the gift of trust and support.”
