A lookback at Lexus Manila’s 12 years in the country

In 2009, Toyota Motor Philippines cemented its presence in the market with the arrival of its luxury marque – Lexus.

Lexus Manila instantly made an impact in the luxury car segment, starting with its flagship dealership within Bonifacio Global City (BGC). The showroom is an embodiment of luxury and craftmanship itself – an architectural and interior-design statement that appropriately represents its lineup of premium vehicles.

Lexus Manila in 2009

In its maiden voyage in 2009, Lexus introduced six nameplates for the affluent Filipino buyers. These were the LS luxury flagship sedan, the ES midsize sedan, the RX midsize luxury SUV, the LX flagship luxury SUV, the sporty IS compact sedan, and the GS midsize sedan.

Two years after, Lexus Manila reinforced its lineup with the CT line of luxury hatchbacks, which also marked the introduction of the hybrid powertrain in the luxury segment. The GX luxury SUV also made its debut in the same year.

The year 2012 was probably the most exciting time for Lexus Manila with the arrival of the LFA supercar. A notable nameplate among enthusiasts and fans alike, the limited number of LFA units produced globally made it a very important model in the local Lexus lineup, highlighted more by its screaming 4.8-liter V10 soundtrack. This year also marked the arrival of the current Spindle Grille design, first seen on the GS.

Apart from the LFA, Lexus cemented its presence in the performance segment with the introduction of the RC and RC F rear-wheel-drive coupes in the lineup in 2014. The smaller NX compact SUV also made its debut in the same year.

The GS F performance sedan amplified Lexus Manila’s foothold in the in performance vehicle segment in 2015. The LC, the coupe counterpart of the LS flagship, takes the excitement even further in 2017. The following year, an even smaller crossover entered the range in the form of the UX. It was also pegged to be the choice for first-time Lexus customers.

Last year, amid the on-going pandemic in the country, Lexus Manila introduced the LM luxury minivan. It was a breakout model for the company and is projected to become a bestseller, coming from a strong demand from Lexus patrons.

Twelve years of utmost craftsmanship, Lexus Manila looks ahead to a brighter future with an added focus on personalization, innovation, hybrid vehicles, and crafted experiences.
