Toyota Yaris WRC gets new attire for 2021

Toyota GAZOO Racing unveiled the new livery for their Yaris WRC shortly before the start of the 2021 FIA World Rally Championship season.

Unlike previous designs where the colors go along the body lines and has symmetry on both sides, the new livery is a stamp of the team’s GR logo, albeit in an abstract way. It’s similar to the also freshly unveiled GR010 hybrid hypercar that’s aimed at the World Endurance Championship.

The wheels also changed into one with longer spokes and pure white, as opposed to the former gunmetal finish. It’s wrapped with Pirelli tires who will be the sole supplier for WRC this season.

Underneath this veil is the same championship winning car that has dominated the series. So far it has earned 17 victories and 322 stage wins since 2018, when GAZOO Racing won the manufacturers championship. It was followed by back to back cups for their drivers in 2019 and 2020 and heading into 2021, they aim to sweep the top spots.

All three crews are returning for Toyota GAZOO Racing namely Kalle Rovanperä and Jonne Halttunen, Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin, and last year’s champion crew, Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia.

The season is set to begin on January 21 at Rallye Monte-Carlo.
