The new Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC does not compromise

High-performing, passionate, and exceptionally practical – that’s how Mercedes-AMG describes their new member, the GLB 35 4MATIC. It’s perfect for those who are looking for a crossover that says yes to their every whim without hesitation. With an AMG-tuned 2.0L turbo engine under the hood, 7 seats, and the revered 4MATIC system, this crossover SUV checked all the right boxes.

It’s an eye catcher at first glance with its intimidating stance and curves but it’s taken further by the AMG styling all over the body. The radiator trim, 5-twin spoke light-alloy wheels, roof spoiler, brake system, the sporty rear apron with two round tailpipes, and the signature lettering in front boast of luxury in performance.

The emphasis on luxurious performance is elevated once you’re inside. Nappa leather wraps the flat-bottom steering wheel while the seats are clad in black Artico Dinamica microfiber. The instrument cluster is all digital with AMG design. Beside it is the 10.25-inch infotainment system that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that can be activated with a “Hey, Mercedes” voice command. Rounding up the cabin are Burmester Surround Sound System, USB charging sockets, compartments, 7-seats, and 64-color ambient lighting strips.

Cabin safety was not overlooked as the GLB 35 came with a full suite of features to protect all occupants. There are airbags all around, ABS, EBD, acceleration skid regulation, hill-start assist, attention assist in case the driver gets sleepy, and tire pressure monitoring system among others. There’s also Keyless Go that allows you to remotely open, start, or lock the vehicle, and a Parking Package with Active Parking Assist reversing camera that will assist you in tight parking spots.

Of course, the pièce de résistance of this GLB 35 are the mechanical bits that granted it the AMG title in its nameplate. Under the hood is a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine putting out 306 hp and 400 Nm of pull. It’s paired to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8-speed and the AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. You also have a choice of driving modes thanks to AMG DYNAMIC SELECT that offers Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual modes. It not only changes the engine response but also the suspension, transmission, and steering.

This performance setup combined with the GLB 35’s short overhangs and high ground clearance ensures you can go wherever your wheels and fuel level can take you.

Getting the new Mercedes-AMG GLB35 4MATIC out of the dealership and into your garage will cost you P5,690,000. Test drive it now in Mercedes-Benz’s showroom in EDSA-Greenhills or Bonifacio Global City.
