Bayad continues to support the digital transformation of government agencies in view of the nation’s journey towards being a cash-lite society.
Recently, the multi-channel payment company has leveled up its partnership with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) by enabling the settlement of traffic fines through its digital platforms – the Bayad App and Bayad Online.
With Bayad’s stronger digital payment platforms and over 60,000 touchpoints across the nation, Filipinos with traffic, jaywalking, and anti-littering violations, issued by an MMDA officer, no longer have to take time off from work or travel to the MMDA head office because they can pay their violation tickets using the Bayad App and Bayad Online.
In a recently concluded partnership signing event, the two organizations, together with the Landbank of the Philippines, emphasized the importance and value of establishing a reliable and accessible online payment system for traffic violation fines.
Taking the lead in enabling these partnerships, MMDA chairman Benhur Abalos said, “In today’s era of digital transformation, this alternative cashless payment option offers greater convenience for our clients especially amid the ongoing pandemic. Contactless payment also means less exposure to the public (no contact transaction) and less possibility of acquiring the COVID-19 virus.”
“With Bayad’s digital payment platforms, we are certain that this effort will fast-track the current process and will translate to better services to the public and better traffic on the road“ he added.
“Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Bayad and MMDA’s existing five-year alliance to help Filipino commuters and motorists pay their fines and obligations in a more convenient way. By helping ease the process of MMDA traffic violation settlement, we are encouraging more Filipinos to responsibly fulfill their obligations by making it easy for them as they can pay through our onsite or online channels” Bayad president and CEO Lawrence Ferrer shared.
Bayad has been one of the key fintech players accelerating digital transformation in the Philippines. The company has been collaborating and providing relevant and responsive digital payment solutions to over 22 government partner billers including the Government Service Insurance System, Social Security System, Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth, TIEZA, National Bureau of Investigation and more.
