Registering your car? Follow these tips for a hassle-free process

Other areas in the country are returning to general community quarantine (GCQ) status and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has announced that it will resume operations in these select cities.

This could, however, spell long lines for people planning to register their vehicles so the LTO shared tips on how to have a smooth, hassle-free registration experience.

Tip #1: Check your OR/CR (Original Receipt/Certificate of Registration). Bring a clear copy of your documents and make sure all the details in them are correct. If there are any discrepancies, the LTO won’t process your registration.

Tip #2: Bring the following requirements:

  • LTO copy and electronically transmitted appropriate insurance Certificate of Cover (COC)/ Third Party Liability
  • Duly accomplished Original Motor Vehicle Inspection Report (MVIR)
  • Original copy of Certificate of Emission Compliance (CEC)

Tip #3: Follow health and sanitation protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Always wear your face mask and face shield, follow physical distancing protocols, don’t come in if you have a fever, and avoid bringing companions.

Tip #4: Those who need to undergo inspection should check for the nearest motor vehicle inspection centers in their area. Make sure of the following;

  • Know the exact engine number and chassis number of your vehicle
  • Your vehicle shouldn’t be loaded
  • Don’t leave valuables inside your vehicle

Tip # 5: Follow LTO’s Facebook page for announcements and updates before heading to your nearest LTO center.
