Nissan brings new electrified tech to MIAS 2022

Nissan continues on their electrification strategy here in the Philippines by bringing a new system at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show. This would be accompanied by the Nissan Leaf that already made strides locally, and a new variant of their Navara pickup.

Front and center at the show will be the new e-Power technology. It’s a 100% percentself-charging electric motor system that gives a smooth and quiet ride, without needing to be plugged in. Unlike the Nissan Leaf, the e-Power technology utilizes a gas engine to recharge the batteries. It’s not a hybrid though since the gasoline engine isn’t connected to the wheels. Instead, its sole purpose is to keep the batteries charged, while the electric motor drives the wheels. If things are confusing, it would be best to head on to the World Trade Center in Pasay City to see this new system in the metal.

Also taking space in Nissan’s stage is the Nissan Leaf. vehicle-to-load capability. This feature allows the Leaf to be a sort of powerbank so you can power your appliances and devices should the power in your area go out. This proved crucial in Cebu during Typhoon Odette and Cebu City Councilor Nestor Archival used his personal Nissan Leaf as a mobile charging station to affected communities.

Of course, there’s something in store for Nissan’s rugged fans. They’ll be displaying the limited-edition Nissan Navara 4×2 Calibre-X which is a new trim, designed for ‘versatile city driving.’ Details are still scarce for this model but Nissan Philippines says it has a new bolder exterior design and still has Nissan Intelligent Mobility along with standard safety bits. Looking at the brochure, it may mean this is based on the VL 4×2 with just a bit more flair.

Speaking of, they’ll be flaunting the capability of their Nissan Intelligent Mobility on the show itself. They’ll hold the 5th leg of their NIM Tour where customers can experience the benefits of their tech and have a go at their range of vehicles during the whole MIAS from April 7-10 2022.
