Road safety is a two-way street when it comes to traveling in the expressways. It is both the responsibility of the toll road concessionaire and the driver itself. Hence, the management of MPT South Management Corp, concessionaire of the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) reminds its motorist of the importance of preparing their vehicles.
Last week, MPT South together with other MPTC toll roads announced the activation of its Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko, (SMSK) Program for this Lenten season. Under this program, the toll road company ensures 24/7 operation of its customer service centers, standby emergency medical services, and free towing for CLASS 1 vehicles to the nearest exit from April 13, 6 AM -April 18, 6 AM. It will also provide additional manpower for traffic and toll operations to service the expected surge of motorists.
“Though we are fully prepared to provide roadside assistance to our motorists, we are calling out to them to practice BLOWBAGETS checking, a longstanding and proven checklist of things you need to check before you hit the road,” said Metro Pacific Tollways South Assistant Vice President for Communications and Stakeholder Management and Spokesperson, Ms. Arlette V. Capistrano.
BLOWBAGETS checking stands for checking the following, battery, lights, oil, water, brakes, air pressure, gas, engine, tires, and last but more importantly- self.
“Aside from preparing your vehicle, we also encourage our motorists to reload their Easytrip RFIDs for faster processing of their transactions and avoid long queues at the cash lanes. For those who do not have Easytrip RFIDs yet, they may have one installed at our expressways’ 24/7 customer service centers,” added Capistrano.
MPT South Management Corp. is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road development arm of the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC). Aside from the CAVITEX and CALAX, MPTC’s tollways portfolio includes the concessions for the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), the NLEX Connector Road, and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).
