Fully electric Porsche, Audi models can now be charged at Uptown Mall BGC

Through its “FutureNow” program, PGA Cars leads the way in the Philippines’ transition toward sustainable electromobility by offering the fully electric Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron range. Along with this move, more stakeholders are launching initiatives designed to provide cleaner transport solutions for the country.

Megaworld Lifestyle Malls has opened a new electric vehicle charging station at Uptown Mall in Taguig City. The first charging station in a planned network of facilities for electric vehicles was unveiled to announce the company’s partnership with several government agencies, including the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

In a message delivered during the launch program held at Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City, DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista noted the project is a “huge step toward greener energy and the adoption of more sustainable and eco-friendly practices in [the] vehicle and transportation industries.”

Fully electric Audi e-tron SUV, as well as Porsche Taycan and the rest of the e-tron range, can now charge at Basement 2 of Uptown Mall in BGC.

The new electric vehicle facility located at a convenient spot at Basement 2 of Uptown Mall features two 22kW chargers with plugs for the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron range. Car owners can use the chargers for free, and only have to pay the regular parking fees.

“Major retail groups and property developers are certainly in an ideal position to give consumers access to a network of charging stations, complementing the residential and mobile charging solutions provided with the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron,” said Christopher Chan, PGA Cars Planning Director, during his speech at the launch event.

PGA Cars, the partner of Porsche and Audi in the Philippines, has been offering the fully electric Porsche Taycan since 2020. Starting this year, the company accelerated its electromobility drive by introducing the Audi e-tron SUV, e-tron Sportback, e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT, all of which are fully electric as well.

Globally, the Porsche Taycan and the Audi e-tron range are considered as the best fully electric vehicles in the premium segment. Deliveries of the models have been more than doubling year after year — a trend reflected in the Philippines. Currently, the Taycan and the e-tron range are the bestselling fully electric models locally.

PGA Cars has invested more than P300 million for infrastructure and personnel development specifically designed for electric vehicles, with additional outlay earmarked to further support their adoption. Alongside this commitment is the company’s aim to eventually adopt carbon-neutral processes for its operations.

To strengthen PGA Cars’ various initiatives for electric vehicles, the company is forming strategic alliances with institutions in both the public and private sectors which share its vision.

“By setting up suitable charging facilities, corporations like Megaworld are helping create an ecosystem for fully electric vehicles. Clearly, this shows a commitment to fostering the adoption of sustainable mobility in the country, as well as ensuring a cleaner future for all. And this future starts now,” Chan said.
