From real time to reel time: TAG Heuer presents The Gray Man

Swiss watchmaker hosts an exclusive private screening of Netflix’s new action thriller

BANGKOK—Ahead of the highly anticipated debut of The Gray Man on Netflix, Swiss luxury watch brand TAG Heuer hosted a private screening of the action thriller for an exclusive group of guests.

Guests, which included celebrities, personalities, influencers, business partners and members of the media from Southeast Asia, were treated to a special preview at the posh Embassy Diplomat Screen in Central Embassy Mall, Bangkok. Attending the exciting evening were regional celebrities David Guison, Angelique Manto, Maia Estianty, Al Ghazali, Nine Naphat, Jame Jirayu, Rosalyn Lee, Edward Russell, and Iman Fandi.

The movie, which will be released on Netflix on July 22, stars Hollywood A-lister and TAG Heuer ambassador Ryan Gosling. He plays Court Gentry (also known as Sierra Six), a CIA black ops mercenary forced to go on the run after uncovering incriminating secrets about the agency. As he is hunted around the world, Gentry overcomes many challenges, perfectly encapsulating the TAG Heuer mindset: “Don’t crack under pressure,” with his trusty companion, the TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands on his wrist. Originally created in 1963 for high-speed pursuits on the racetrack, the timepiece is now befitting for a world-class agent for whom elegance and fearlessness go hand in hand, much like Gosling’s character.

The location of the special screening was significant as well because the movie, which is directed by Anthony and Joseph Russo – the brothers behind four films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – features a major scene shot in Bangkok. Guests were hosted in luxury comfort in two private gold-class theatres at the Embassy Diplomat Screen that were specially customized to express the TAG Heuer spirit, with thoughtful details such as TAG Heuer-branded cushions, blankets, drinks and popcorn to complete the experience. Thoroughly entertained and thrilled by the movie, guests were then invited to the Penthouse Bar + Grill at the connecting Park Hyatt Hotel for the after-party where they continued their spy-themed experience with renowned Thai DJ Burtong behind the decks.

Béatrice Goasglas, Managing Director for TAG Heuer S.E.A, Australia and Korea, was impressed by Gosling’s performance: “What a thrilling chase! True to the ethos of a TAG Heuer ambassador, Ryan as Sierra Six never stops challenging himself; he is the perfect match for the TAG Heuer Carrera, a subtle mix of action, performance, elegance and style. It was a very meaningful moment for the brand to see our iconic watch share the screen with him in a saga that so authentically captures our values.”

TAG Heuer has been synonymous with cars and racing for over half a century. It has been a sponsor of various world-championship winning Formula One teams and has been an official F1 timekeeper.

In The Gray Man, Ryan Gosling, as Agent Sierra Six, is seen sporting his distinctive TAG Heuer Carrera wristwatch as he battles his nemesis (surprisingly yet convincingly played by erstwhile Captain America Chris Evans). Needless to say, there are quite a few spectacular car chase scenes with Six battling the bad guys in a sleek, red Audi e-tron and from atop a moving train.

No spoilers here: Just expect a suspenseful and adrenalin-filled two hours. The Gray Man also stars Ana de Armas, Billy Bob Thornton, and Bridgerton’s Rege-Jean Page.
