Keeping up with the Global Trend of New Energy, Chery Makes Comprehensive Efforts on PHEV Hybrid Technology

Chery has started the journey of R&D of fuel-efficient and new energy vehicles in 1999, which made it the first ever Chinese auto manufacturer in the field of new energy technology. With years of development, Chery has now established a perfect new energy technology R&D system, covering vehicle integration, core technologies, and development capability of core parts. The leading technological capability also helps Chery to undertake and participate in R&D multiple national major projects and formulation of national standards. Moreover, Chery has been leading to complete the project of “Key Technology and Equipment for Aluminum-Based Lightweight New Energy Passenger Vehicles in Terms of Short-process R&D and Manufacturing”. DHT, the full-featured hybrid transmission independently developed by Chery, has four key advantages by virtue of the key technologies of “3 engines, 3 gears, 9 working modes and 11 speed ratios”. In addition, Chery’s “super hybrid” brings the hybrid vehicle industry with a significant solution to solve the problem of weak power output.

Moreover, Chery has also developed the specialized 1.5T engine for hybrid system. By force of the advanced technologies such as the second generation of “i-HEC” combustion system, the new generation of intelligent thermal management system of the engine, and all-dimensional ultra-low friction, the engine has been significantly improved in thermal efficiency, reaching the industry-leading level on the whole. And the specialized engine for hybrid system has won the award of “The Best Engine in Brazil of 2022”.

Under the support of hybrid technology, TIGGO 8 PRO e+, Chery’s first PHEV model which was put into mass production, got global attention during its launch. With its maximum torque output of 545 N.m which allows 5 seconds for 0-100 km/h acceleration, TIGGO 8 PRO e+ has extremely low fuel consumption and its travel range for electric drive is up to 95 km, which lowers its fuel consumption in general working condition to 1.3L/100km which is much lower than the diesel vehicles in the same class.
