Chevrolet PH flexes its muscles with North American showcase at Chevrolet Makati

A sleek white Corvette.

A mean-looking red Camaro.

A massive black Tahoe.

These stunning automobiles that would be turn heads in a car show or on the street soaked up admiring stares from the visitors that entered the doors of Chevrolet Makati last May 12, when it held an exclusive dealer event to celebrate the powerful line up of iconic Chevrolet models and announce their availability in the country.

With the theme “World-Class Chevrolet: The League of North American Chevys,” the event highlighted the brand’s rich heritage and featured the exceptional lineup of Chevrolet vehicles of today. The showroom exhibited Chevy’s North American models such as the Camaro 3LT RS, the Tahoe High Country, and the sensational 2023 Corvette C8.

Chevrolet Corvette

Launched in the Philippines late last year, the all-new 8th-generation Corvette C8 is a phenomenal global bestseller, thanks to its exotic car styling and performance—but minus the exotic car price tag. The plastic-bodied C8 Corvette is the first-ever production mid-engined Corvette and is powered by a world-beating 6.2-liter V8 engine developing 495hp, good for a 3.5-second 0-100 km/h sprint. Supercar performance and styling has an unbeatable bang-for-the-buck price tag of P12,421,888.

The Chevrolet Corvette C8 is a legitimate supercar that comes with a 6.2-liter V8, rockets from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, and retails for P12,421,888.

Chevrolet Camaro

Another iconic Chevrolet that first came out more than half a century ago, the Camaro is the more affordable sports/muscle car of the Bowtie brand. It has become more popular among the global youth (millennials and Gen Zs) thanks to the portrayal of Bumblebee’s charming yellow Camaro in the Transformers movie series. While Camaros have become synymous with small-block V8s (“small block” being a relative term outside the US) the Camaro 3LT RS variant available locally comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder all-aluminum engine pumping out a surprisingly high (even for a turbocharged 2.0-liter) 275hp and a mighty 398Nm of torque. You won’t miss the V8 with those outputs, especially in Philippine driving.

That power goes through an 8-speed paddle-shifted automatic and is restrained by high-performance Brembo brakes with 4-piston calipers. Safety comes from Chevy’s StabiliTrak system, ABS, EBD, Lane Change Alert, Blind Spot Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, among many others. The Camaro 3LT RS has a tremendous bang-for-the-buck price of P4,066,888.

Chevrolet Tahoe

We see the Tahoe everytime we watch an American movie or TV series showing the police, highway patrols, the Secret Service, and many other government agencies. They’re almost always in a huge, black Tahoe or its even longer sibling, the Suburban.

For the Philippines, we get two variants: the Z71 4×4 AT (P7,702,888) and the High Country 4×4 AT (P8,692,888). Both are powered by a 355hp/518Nm 5.3-liter Ecotec V8 engine mated to a 10-speed automatic. They get GM’s Auto 4WD system with Magnetic Ride Control and Adaptive Air Suspension, giving the Tahoe one of the most comfortable rides for day to day driving and cruising while preserving its off-road capability. Needless to say, every conceivable comfort, convenience, luxury, and safety feature comes standard in the Tahoe.

Chevrolet Makati/MIG1 Auto Dealership Corp. was represented by its dealer principals Chairman, Cong. Michael Edgar Aglipay and Vice Chairman Ginger Rosales-Aglipay. Chevrolet’s Philippine dsitributor, The Covenant Car Company Inc. (TCCCI), came in full support led by President and CEO Atty. Albert B. Arcilla, National Sales Services VP and Director Leah Avante, Marketing Communications Services EVP and Director Lyn Buena, First AVP Jun Maneze, and Business Development Services First AVP and Director Victor Delarmente. Dealer clients, bank partners, friends from the motoring media, and social media influencers joined the celebration.

During the event, the executive team of Chevrolet Philippines – TCCCI announced that the Philippine market can look forward to a steadier supply of North American Models (NAM) which come with TCCCI’s signature 5-year warranty. “Today, we are glad to announce the good news that Chevrolet’s North American products like the Suburban, Tahoe and Camaro are now available,” said Atty. Albert Arcilla. “With this development, we are confident to serve the demand for these models and we’re excited to see more of these new Chevys on the road moving forward.”
