Audi Philippines continues to redefine high-performance cars through the 100% electric Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT. Both these four-door Grand Touring models are built by Audi Sport. The high-performance division of Audi AG — boasting of over 400 championship motor racing titles to date — currently has a 16-model portfolio. Spearheading this is the 100% electric Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT.
Both models are produced alongside the Audi R8 supercar at the Audi Sport facility in Bollinger Hofe, Germany.
In the e-tron GT, two electric motors produce 530 hp and 630 Nm, allowing the car to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in only 4.1 seconds.
The RS e-tron GT’s pair of electric motors delivers 646 hp and 830 Nm, letting the model sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. This capability makes it the most powerful production model Audi has ever built, and matches the performance of supercars like the Audi R8.
Both the e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT have electric quattro all-wheel drive systems that constantly and instantly vary the amount of power sent between the cars’ axles. This ensures maximum dynamism, stability and traction in any condition.
Also defining both models is a body made from aluminum, which has active elements managing its aerodynamics. Inlets supply the front brakes and the thermal management system with cool air. A rear spoiler extends to two positions depending on the requirement. A fully paneled underbody directs air flow toward the rear diffuser. All of these contribute in dynamic performance and a long driving range.
In the e-tron GT and RS e-tron’s cabin, occupants sit low, with the instrument panel canted toward the driver. Featuring extensive connectivity functions, the displays and controls are operated via the digital Audi virtual cockpit plus. This, in turn, is controlled through the multifunction steering wheel and the central MMI touch display, as well as by voice commands.
Through the Audi drive select, pre-programmed driving modes that alter the cars’ behavior can be accessed. When switched to Comfort mode, the cars consume electric power most efficiently while returning a relaxed ride. Set in Dynamic mode, the motor fitted to the rear axle supplies more power than the motor in front, making the cars more suitable to spirited driving. Efficiency mode prioritizes front-wheel drive, and is most ideal in urban traffic commutes.
When fully charged, the e-tron GT can travel as much as 500 kilometers while the RS e-tron GT can reach as much as 481 kilometers. Both models come with simple and convenient home charging systems and portable chargers, making them as easy to use as any digital mobile device. An ever-expanding network of compatible public charging facilities in shopping malls, service stations, resorts and other properties further support Audi’s 100% electric e-tron range. The models are also exempt from the number-coding scheme, making them even more suitable for fascinating daily drives.
