The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP), led by President Edmund Araga and Executive Director Dr. Manny Biona, recently met with Congressman Abet Garcia of Bataan to discuss significant economic developments and the Electric Vehicle (EV) Roadmap for the province. The meeting focused on exploring Bataan’s public transportation system and the operations of the Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA), highlighting the province’s commitment to creating programs aimed at cleaner and more efficient public transportation.
During the meeting, EVAP leaders and Congressman Garcia delved into Bataan’s current and future plans for integrating electric vehicles into the public transportation system. This initiative is part of the broader EV Roadmap, which aims to reduce carbon emissions, enhance energy efficiency, and promote sustainable transportation solutions in the province.
EVAP President Edmund Araga expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “Bataan’s proactive approach to developing its public transportation infrastructure is commendable. We are excited to support their initiatives and work together to create a cleaner, more efficient transportation system that benefits both the environment and the local economy.”
Executive Director Dr. Manny Biona highlighted the potential impact of these developments, noting, “The integration of electric vehicles into Bataan’s public transportation system is a significant step towards achieving sustainable urban mobility. By leveraging advanced EV technologies, Bataan can set an example for other provinces in the Philippines.”
Congressman Abet Garcia emphasized the province’s dedication to sustainability, stating, “Bataan is committed to leading the way in cleaner and more efficient public transportation. Our collaboration with EVAP will help us develop and implement effective programs that align with our environmental goals and economic development plans.”
The discussions also included an overview of the Metro Bataan Development Authority’s operations, with a focus on how electric vehicles can enhance the efficiency and sustainability of public transportation services in the region. Both parties agreed to continue working closely to ensure the successful implementation of the EV Roadmap and to explore further opportunities for economic growth and environmental stewardship.
These initiatives and collaborations are all in preparation for the upcoming Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit, scheduled to take place on October 24-26, 2024, at the SMX Convention Center in Manila. The summit aims to bring together industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in the EV landscape.
