NKS Solar One lights up the road for ‘Hari ng Kalsada’ winner with brand new motorcyle

In a remarkable show of support and community spirit, NKS Solar One awarded a brand-new motorcycle to the winner of Hari ng Kalsada last September 9. This showcases the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility; its aim to enhance local economic opportunities and contribute to the well-being of its host communities.

Hari ng Kalsada is one of the events in the recently held Sambalilo Festival in Cavinti, Laguna. It celebrates the most talented and brightest drivers in the municipality. This year’s competition saw fierce contenders, but it was John Michael Gordula, a tricycle driver and operator from Brgy. Mahipon-Lumot, who took home the crown.

“I am grateful to NKS Solar One and the Cavinti Local Government Unit (LGU) for this motorcycle. This generous gift is more than just a prize—it’s a symbol of encouragement that will help me continue my journey on the road. I also want to thank the LGU for organizing such event. Their dedication to celebrating and empowering local talent is truly inspiring,” said Gordula.

NKS Solar One is committed to empower its host communities through various social responsibility programs, focusing on health, education, livelihood, environment, and tourism. The company collaborates with partners and local communities to implement these initiatives.

“We are thrilled to be part of the Hari ng Kalsada competition and to support John Michael with this exciting prize,” said Jason Gavina, Head of Community Relations and Marketing for Blueleaf Energy Philippines.  “This new motorcycle is more than just a reward; it symbolizes our recognition of the hard work and skill of local tricycle drivers and operators. We also extend our deep appreciation to the Cavinti LGU for their commitment to fostering local talent and making this event a success.”

NKS Solar One is the 250 MW floating solar project of Blueleaf Energy Philippines and NKS Energy Utilities to be built in Lakes Caliraya and Lumot in Laguna. It is expected to be the first utility-scale floating solar project in the country.  Blueleaf Energy Philippines is a portfolio company of Macquarie Capital, operating on a stand-alone basis.
