DHL Express receives award from Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines for efforts in EV adoption

DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, has received the E-mobility Award for EV Technology Adoption at the 12th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit organized by the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (eVAP). The award was given to companies leading the charge for EV adoption in their local logistics operations. DHL Express, which began deploying EVs in 2021, continues to expand its electric fleet annually.

This E-mobility award underscores the efforts of DHL Express to electrify its pickup and delivery fleet and promote environmental stewardship. The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (eVAP) is an organization that aims to educate the public about the economic and environmental benefit of electric vehicles.

DHL Express in the Philippines operates 47 electric vehicles (EVs), which constitute 24% of its total vehicle fleet and is in line with the Group’s target to electrify 60% of its last-mile delivery vehicles by 2030.

“We are immensely honored to be recognized for our sustainability efforts, particularly in reducing the environmental impact of our logistics operations. This award is a testament to our ongoing dedication as a responsible corporate citizen and implementing decarbonization measures. At DHL Express, we are committed to leading the way in sustainable logistics practices, integrating advanced technologies like electric vehicles into our fleet to support our global decarbonization goals. This recognition not only validates our current initiatives but also inspires us to continue innovating and expanding our services in our mission to become the “Green Logistics of Choice”, which is our fourth strategic bottom line,” said Nigel Lockett, Country Manager of DHL Express Philippines.

In 2023, DHL Express launched the GoGreen Plus service, allowing customers to reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with their international air freight with the help of Sustainable Aviation Fuel. GoGreen Plus is made possible by significant partnerships with bp, Neste, and World Energy. SAF is made from renewable energy, sustainable biomass or waste.

GoGreen Plus is part of DHL Group’s goal to achieve net zero GHG emissions by 2050. The air freight network accounts for around 68 percent of the company’s carbon footprint, so sustainable air transportation solutions are crucial for more sustainable logistics.
