The new Yaris is not grinning anymore, starts at P973k

Toyota ends their year with the refreshed Yaris that is now more serious in its demeanor. It retains its 1.3L and 1.5L DVVT-i engines paired to a CVT, but gets a few more updates that makes it more than just a hatchback version of the Vios.

Outside, the new Yaris sports a honeycomb grille to differentiate it from the Vios even at first glance. The 1.5 S trim compliments that with LED headlights with LED line guide, chrome door handles, and LED taillights.

It carried over most of the 2018 updates inside including the smart keyless entry and the push start system for the 1.5S, but this refresh adds synthetic leather in that package. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also now standard for the 2 variants coming in a 6.75-inch touchscreen.

It’s great that Toyota continued the full suite of safety features for the Yaris. It still has 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, and hill start assist among others.

Mechanically, it’s unchanged. The 1.5S still has the 1.5L D-VVTi that puts out 107 ps and 140 Nm of torque, while the 1.3 E has 99 ps and 123 Nm of torque. Both are coupled to a CVT, with the 1.5S having paddle shifters. Underneath, the 1.5S gets disc brakes all around, while the 1.3E has drum brakes at the rear.

Colors are very vibrant for the new Yaris. You can choose between the Super White II, Red Mica Metallic, Citrus Mica Metallic, or the new Cyan Metallic.

The 2021 Toyota Yaris is priced at P973,000 for the 1.3 E while the 1.5S is at P1,114,000. You can reserve your unit today, and they will be in all Toyota showrooms by January 13, 2021.
