Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is seeking to redefine luxury and comfort in people movers through its newest business class-like offering on wheels, the all-new Hiace Super Grandia.

Set to be available in Elite, Leather, and Fabric variants this month, the newest iteration of Toyota’s popular van nameplate comes with a variety of features that aim to bring a higher level of premium amenities and ride comfort.

The Hiace Super Grandia’s front fascia has an elegant yet muscular front grille that flanked by bi-beam LED head lamps. It is emphasized with side chrome linings that stretch to the rear.

The Elite variant is bestowed dual power-sliding doors for easier ingress and egress, luxurious four-way power adjust captain seats with ottoman and butterfly headrests, rear sunshade, dual-zone automatic air-conditioning system, individual AC vents and a personal lamp at the rear.

The Super Grandia is powered by a 1GD-FTV 2.8-liter diesel engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that produces 176ps of horsepower and 450Nm of torque at 1,600 to 2,400 rpm. It is fitted with a coil spring rear suspension for less cabin noise, as well as rear ventilated disc brakes, and variable power steering.

The Hiace Super Grandia comes with an array of standard safety features such as anti-lock brakes, vehicle stability control with brake assist, hill start assist, clearance and back sonar, back monitor, nine airbags, emergency locking retractor, and three-point seatbelts.

Aside from a suite of safety features, TMP has also incorporated on the Elite variant of the Hiace Super Grandia the Toyota Safety Sense, which helps protect drivers from road accidents. The Toyota Safety Sense suite includes a pre-collision system, lane departure alert, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beam.

In an exclusive interview with WHEELS.PH, TMP first vice president Cristina Arevalo said the Super Grandia, like Toyota’s more premium Alphard product, is for affluent families who like to travel. “But this is more suitable for bigger families because it has 10 seats,” she added. “It’s more luxurious and comfortable compared to other Hiace variants.”

The three variants of the Hiace Super Grandia will be available in all Toyota dealerships beginning August 26 and are priced as follows:

Elite – P2,875,000

Leather – P2,510,000

Fabric – P2,420,000

During the launch, TMP president Satoru Suzuki said that the Hiace has “become the symbol of comfort, convenience, and durability, and has indeed proven its reliability as the utility van which best caters to the needs of Filipinos both for personal and business endeavors.”

He added, “We expect the Super Grandia to further elevate the Hiace which currently has a 54.6 percent share in its segment, year-to-date as of July.”

Arevalo shared, “We hope that this will allow TMP to continue to lead the segment.” The company is targeting to sell 400 Super Grandia units a month – part of the 1,400 to 1,500 Hiace units it sells nationwide.
