Propelled by much better consumer brand awareness and buoyed by growing market confidence in an improving pandemic climate, sales of CHERY Auto Philippines surged more than double in April compared to the same month last year — specifically a 143-percent increase and a best-ever monthly figure for the brand which launched just four months before the hard lockdown in March 2020.
The figures reflect the strong yet still-growing demand for the company’s popular range of crossovers, namely the subcompact Tiggo 2, Tiggo 2 Pro, and Tiggo 5x, the compact turbocharged Tiggo 7 Pro, and the top-of-the-line midsize 7-seater turbocharged Tiggo 8, of which a new model, the Tiggo 8 Pro, was unveiled last month. Barely two and a half years since its initial grand launch in late 2019, the aggressive brand has been enjoying strong, relentless growth month on month especially this year.

Last May, CHERY held two batches of media drives up and down Mount Samat with the new CHERY Tiggo 8 Pro. “We were pleased to read about the highly positive media feedback about our new CHERY Tiggo 8 Pro,” declared Duenas. “Our pre-selling activities were also received very well by the market and we are now proud to announce that our whole initial inventory of Tiggo 8 Pro models have been sold out. Needless to say, we expect even higher growth in the coming months as new stocks of our flagship model arrive,” he added.
The Tiggo 8 Pro boasts a full suite of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) with 11 functions for unparalleled safety, namely: Blind Spot Detection, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Door Opening Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Integrated Cruise Assist, Intelligent High-Beam Control, Lane Departure Warning, and Speed Limit Sign Recognition. It boasts powerful yet fuel-efficient petrol engines (195hp for the Tiggo 8 Pro 1.6 Turbo and a combined 320hp for the gasoline engine and electric motor for the Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV variant).
Leading the sales charge for CHERY is the entry-level yet feature-packed Tiggo 2 subcompact crossover. The Tiggo 2 is powered by a Euro 5-compliant 1.5-liter DOHC 16-valve VVT engine and comes in manual (P695,000) and automatic (P770,000) variants (P818,000 for the Tiggo 2 Pro AT).
One level higher is the higher-spec’d Tiggo 5x subcompact crossover which shares the Tiggo 2’s drivetrain and also comes in manual (P818,000) and automatic (P860,000) versions. The fast-selling fully loaded (with sunroof and a generous array of comfort and convenience features) Tiggo 5x Luxury comes with a retail price of P970,000. CHERY has a Father’s day promo for the Tiggo 5x, where an additional P5,000 is slashed from its retail price until June 30.
One size higher is the compact European-inspired Tiggo 7 Pro, powered by a strong yet fuel-efficient turbocharged 1.5-liter VVT engine mated to an automatic transmission. It retails for P1,198,000.
