J.D. Power USA study again ranks Porsche highest among premium brands

Customers of brand-new premium cars have once again named Porsche as the highest-ranking automaker in the latest study conducted by J.D. Power USA, following other top ratings owners have given the sports car company.

In the J.D. Power 2024 US Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) Study, the US-based consumer intelligence authority found new-car customers rated Porsche the top premium brand for the second year in a row. Porsche earlier this year also topped J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study (IQS) and the Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study.

The brand was named the leading premium brand in terms of overall initial quality and recognized as the most appealing premium brand in the IQS and APEAL studies, respectively.

In the latest SSI Study, Porsche secured a total of 851 points, representing an 11-point jump to earn the number one ranking in the industry, as well as the number one ranking in both the premium car and premium SUV segments.

Porsche bested 14 other brands — including BMW, Jaguar Land Rover, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz — listed under the Premium category in the SSI Study

The SSI Study analyzes the purchase experience from the perspective of the customer. For the latest survey, J.D, Power based the rankings on the responses of 34,596 people who purchased a new vehicle between March and May 2024.

In the IQS Study, J.D. Power surveyed around 100,000 new-car owners regarding potential quality issues across 10 categories. That Porsche topped the surveys is a testament to the high build quality and outstanding performance of its models.

Meanwhile, the APEAL Study showed Porsche surpassed the average score of 870 in the premium brand sector by garnering  891 out of 1,000 points. The Porsche 911 achieved the highest score within the portfolio with 903 points while the all-electric Porsche Taycan was awarded the best-in-class title for the second consecutive year.
