The Isuzu mu-X is perhaps one of the more updated midsize SUVs in the country right now. Still, Isuzu Philippines chose to keep it fresh by pulling the veil of its facelifted version just in time for the 2025 Manila International Auto Show.

The new Isuzu mu-X features a new front face that has a larger grille with less slats they call Dynamic Design Titanium Carbide. It’s flanked by Dynamic Bi-Beam LED headlights that look sharper, and a new design for the taillights. Even the 20-inch alloy wheels are almost literally sharp with its Dynamic Turbine design. Add to this the small revisions on the front bumper and the tailgate and it all adds up to a refreshing update for Isuzu’s SUV contender.

There’s also something new in the cabin. Ambient lighting is now implemented in key areas, elevating the premium appeal of the mu-X. The leather on the steering wheel and its stitching was also improved for a more comfortable grip. There’s a 7-inch digital gauge cluster for the driver, while the 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen now supports Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. They also added a wireless charger to make the experience fully cable free.

Powering the new Isuzu mu-X is the same 3.0L 4JJ3-TCX Blue Power turbodiesel engine that makes 190ps and 450Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed automatic. The entry level has a more frugal 1.9L RZ4E-TC turbodiesel engine that makes 150ps and 350Nm of torque, also paired to an automatic.
This powertrain is complemented by a new Traction Control System with Rough Terrain Mode. It enhances the grip, stability, and maneuverability, especially on steep inclines, muddy trails, and other obstacles.

Isuzu also claims to have improved the suspension of the mu-X, making it more comfortable in and out of the city. It also helps enhance the cornering and handling of the mu-X, giving it more precision at higher speeds.
Safety was also improved in the mu-X. It now has an updated Gen4 SMART Duo Camera that has a 120-degree field of vision and reads up to 120 meters ahead, ensuring features like Autonomous Emergency Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control are utilized at a safe margin. It can detect pedestrians, cyclists, and other potential obstacles quickly.
There’s also a new 360-degree camera system in the mu-X, along with a Digital Video Recorder. Isuzu hasn’t shared yet if the full system can be recorded or just the front. Either way, this will eliminate your need for a third-party dashcam system that introduces messy cabling into the cabin.

Another new feature in the safety department are the Front Parking Sensors and the Rear Cross Traffic Brake that works with the Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Now, you just won’t be alerted if there’s oncoming traffic when you’re backing out of a parking slot. The car can now also brake autonomously in case you don’t react quickly enough.
The new Isuzu mu-X also debuts new colors in the lineup namely Eiger Gray exclusive for the LS-E and LS-A trims. It’s priced at PHP 1,725,000 for the RZ4E 4×2 LS, PHP 2,069,000 for the 3.0L 4×2 LS-A, PHP 2,320,000 for the 3.0L 4×2 LS-E, and PHP 2,670,000 for the 3.0L 4×4 LS-E.
You can see it in the metal and experience it for yourself at the upcoming 2025 Manila International Auto Show happening on April 10 to 13 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. There are also exclusive event promos and other promotions for Isuzu’s newest SUV.
