LTO facility offering free theoretical driving course opens in Pampanga

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) recently opened a facility in San Fernando, Pampanga that offers free theoretical driving course for aspiring drivers.

The new facility, called Drivers Education Center, has two lecture rooms, a library with learning materials for licensure examination, an examination room and a maneuvering track that applicants can freely use.

In order to prevent cheating, the LTO said that lecturers will be monitoring the applicants during examination while each of them will be given with different questionnaires. The agency also said that only applicants can only enter the premises in order to deter fixers in the area.

“They have to undergo a series of seminars, they have to take and pass the written exam and to have the actual or practical driving. It is in line with our road safety advocacy,” De Guzman said.

“Very strict ang implementation natin pag once na makakuha sila ng driver’s license, kailangan, they are fully-equipped with all the knowledge which are required from them,” he added.

The agency earlier said that all LTO sites will only accept and process applications for student permits, new driver’s licenses and additional restriction code transactions from applicants who have secured driving course completion certificates.

Under the new requirement, applicants of student driver’s permit will be required to undergo a theoretical 15-hour driving course while renewing applicants are required to undertake an eight-hour driving enhancement program.
