MTPB implements flat rate parking fees

The Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) is now implementing flat rate parking fees in a bid to end the perennial problem of non-standardized parking rates in the city.

It said that starting June 2020, light vehicle owners will have to pay a flat rate of P50 for a maximum of eight hours. Motorists with medium vehicles like vans and delivery trucks will pay P75 for a maximum of eight hours. A flat rate of P100, meanwhile, will be collected from heavy vehicles like buses, 10-wheeler trucks and heavy equipment – also for a maximum of eight hours.

The MTPB said that the implementation of the standardized parking rates took effect after Ordinance 7988 was passed last March 25, 2020.

Meanwhile, the MTPB advised motorists to immediately report erring personnel who will fail to comply with the newly passed ordinance.

Last November, some unscrupulous people in Dangwa were reportedly taking advantage of the relaxing of parking rules in Manila for All Saints’ Day.

A patron known only as “Simon” said that he was demanded by one of the thugs to pay P100 as parking fee.
