Another reckless bus driver, another thoroughfare. Thankfully, there was no awful crash this time.
A Cavite-bound passenger bus nearly sideswiped a car while attempting to veer into a lane reserved for motorists heading to Las Piñas City on Wednesday night.
In a Facebook post by JP Loredo, dashcam footage showed how the Jasper Jean Bus (TYB-289) cut off his vehicle on the lane reserved for Las Piñas-bound vehicles at the curved portion at the end of the southbound lane of Cavitex. An unbroken white line is clearly visible, indicating no lane changes could be made. The bus hit the vehicle’s side mirror.
In the clip, Loredo can be heard blowing his horn as the bus suddenly cut him off. “This Jasper Jean Bus (TYV-289) tried to cut me off, hit my side mirror and almost sideswiped my car. Papuntang Cavite tapos sasakupin yung sa “Las Pinas-Only” lane (It’s headed to Cavite but he hogged the Las Piñas-Only lane),” Loredo said, who decided to chase the bus to confront the driver after the latter didn’t even bother to pull over after the incident.

Didn’t bother to slow down to check kung may nadamage siya. Ayaw pa tumabi kahit businahan. Kung di ko pa inunahan hindi hihinto. Kupal pa yung conductor at driver. Ang yayabang. Nung sinabi kong tignan nila yung video sa dash cam biglang tumakas.Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board – LTFRB

(He) didn’t bother to slow down to check kung may na-damage siya. Ayaw pa tumabi kahit businahan. Kung di ko pa inunahan hindi hihinto (If I didn’t chase him down and kept blowing my horn, he wouldn’t have stopped),” he added.
Upon their confrontation, Loredo said that the bus driver and conductor blamed him for the incident. However, when Loredo was about show them the dash cam video in his car, the bus driver immediately drove away.
Loredo said that he’s willing let go of the incident since his vehicle’s side mirror only suffered minor damage, but the motorist commented that the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulation Board might want to review Jasper Jean’s franchise since there are reportedly a number of negative reports against its drivers.
“Pag nakasagi kayo ng sasakyan kahit na maliit lang yung damage, wag niyo naman sanang takbuhan. Kung hindi pa kayo hahabulin di pa kayo hihinto (When you bump into a vehicle, even if you think the damage, please don’t run away from the incident. Don’t wait for the driver to chase you down before you stop),” said Loredo in a message to WHEELS.PH.
He called on the LTFRB to review the franchise of bus operators, especially those whose drivers are “arrogant even if they’re in the wrong.” He reiterated his opinion that there are a lot of negative opinions about the Jasper Jean firm owing to its history.
