In an effort to clear public roads of any obstructions within the 60-day deadline, Mayor Francis Zamora has ordered the suspension of pay parking schemes on some streets of San Juan City.
Following President Duterte’s order to rid Metro Manila streets of any obstructions, Zamora issued an executive order, banning pay parking schemes on some streets across the city beginning August 5.
Under the executive order, motorists will be prohibited from parking along Annapolis Street, Eisenhower Street, Club Filipino Avenue, Connecticut Street, Missouri Street, Xavier Street, Grant Street, Washington Street, Madison Street, Pinaglabanan Street, Santolan Road and other streets that are being used as pay parking.
Traffic enforcers will apprehend and issue traffic tickets to erring motorists. Zamora also ordered enforcers to tow vehicles that will obstruct traffic flow within the no parking zone.
Last month, Zamora signed an order declaring some streets in Greenhiills as no parking zones.
The Department of Interior and Local Government earlier issued a memorandum circular, giving all local government units 60 days to reclaim public roads that are being used privately.
The DILG wanted that those who will fail to comply could face administrative chargers or preventive suspension.
