P7.7-B NLEX projects expected to ease traffic

Several projects amounting to P7.7 billion are being constructed simultaneously by the North Luzon Expressway Corp. to ease traffic congestion in Metro Manila as well as areas along the stretch of NLEX-SCTEX network.

“A number of projects are simultaneously being implemented… to ease traffic and prioritize the safety and convenience of our motorists,” NLEX president and general manager Luigi Bautista said.

Part of the project NLEX is constructing is the 2.6-kilometer NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 C3-R10 Section which will provide a direct access between the port area and central provinces in Luzon. The project, which stretches from C3 Road in Caloocan City to Radial Road 10 in Navotas City, is 33 percent complete.

NLEX is also building a capacity expansion of Subic Freeport Expressway comprised of two additional expressway lanes, two new bridges in Jadjad and Argonaut, and a tunnel to accommodate the increasing volume of motorists crossing to and from Subic Bay Freeport.

NLEX is also currently undertaking road improvements in Bulacan which seeks to provide better routes for the riding public. The 600-meter Balagtas northbound entry is set to be opened to motorists this August.

The tollway company said that the new Tambubong Interchange aimed at improving the Bulacan road network and alleviating traffic at the Boacaue Interchange is also being built.

Bautista added that the first phase of the Ciudad de Victoria Interchange near Philippine Arena in Bocaue is halfway complete. “With all these enhancements, we are hoping to raise the level of convenience and satisfaction of motorists using our expressways,” Bautista said. – With Richmond Mercurio/STAR
