The congressman who had earlier proposed to ban private vehicles from using EDSA during rush hour is predicting even greater traffic hardships by next month.
Amid the woeful traffic situation along with the implementation of partial operations at LRT-2, Caloocan City Rep. Edgar Erice has warned that the traffic situation in Metro Manila is about to get worse in November. The riding public should brace for “the worst” as the Christmas rush draws near as well as the start of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
The MMDA earlier warned that the volume of vehicles along EDSA will increase by 20 percent during the “ber” months as people are expected to prepare for the Christmas season.
Erice earlier proposed to ban all private vehicles along EDSA from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. to give way to public utility vehicles. The lawmaker claimed that it would immensely help the riding public as the Christmas season fast approaches.
“We should give priority to our ordinary citizens and workers, or those who are poor and from the middle class who have no vehicles,” Erice said. – With Gemma Garcia
