WATCH: Scenic ‘Daang Kalikasan’ in Pangasinan nears completion

The worsening traffic situation in Metro Manila has long killed the fun out of driving for most of us. Aside from the growing number of erring motorists that we have to deal with every single day, the prevalence of vehicular accidents and the poor road conditions in the metro are more than enough reasons not to start your car engine.

That’s why when we feel the longing of hitting the open road just to escape the ungodly traffic in the metro, we would embark on an hours-long journey to the northern part of Luzon. Mainly because that’s the only way we could relive how to drive on a freeway without having to go through a stop-and-go traffic.

But if you are looking for an alternative destination, then you might want to check the ‘Daang Kalikasan’ (Nature’s Highway) in Pangasinan, because it surely does make you fall in love again with driving.

In a drone video posted by Yhu Rie on Facebook, several motorists, most of which are motorcycle riders, can be seen stopping by the side of the road at sundown to check out the sprawling breathtaking view of the mountains.

The 54-kilometer road, which stretches from Mangatarem in Pangasinan all the way to Santa Cruz in Zambales, cuts through several forests and mountains, offering motorists a scenic view of the area. According to a report by the Philippine News Agency, the Department of Public Works and Highways is targeting the completion of the highway by next year.
