TRB approves NLEX toll adjustment

Motorists traveling along the stretch of North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) will have to pay additional toll fees beginning November 25, 2020.

In a statement, NLEX Corp. said that the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) recently approved a toll rate adjustment of P4 following the completion and opening of the P7-billion NLEX Harbor Link 2.6-kilometer elevated section between the new Caloocan Interchange along C3 Road and 5th Avenue and the new Navotas Interchange along R-10 and Mel Lopez Boulevard.

It said that the toll hike, which takes effect at 12:01 a.m. on November 25, 2020, will amount to P4 in the open system and P.06 per kilometer in the closed system. The open system, where a flat rate is charged per entry, includes Quezon City, Caloocan City, Valenzuela City, Malabon City, Navotas City, Meycauayan City and Marilao, Bulacan.

Under the new toll fee matrix, motorists traveling anywhere within the open system will pay an additional P4 for class 1 vehicles or regular cars and sport utility vehicles, class 2 vehicles or buses and small trucks will pay an additional  P10.00 while class 3 vehicles will pay an additional P11.00.

For end-to-end travel, vehicles traveling from Metro Manila to Mabalacat City in Pampanga will be charged an additional toll of  P9.00, P20.00 and P25.00 per class, respectively.

The toll company said that while the regulatory approvals could have been implemented earlier this year, the toll hike adjustment has been deferred in consideration of the adverse economic impact of the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
