Four people including a police officer died while seven others were injured when a trailer truck loaded with steel bars lost control and rammed three vehicles in Nasugbu, Batangas on Friday morning.
According to a report from the Batangas Police Provincial Office, the fatalities were identified as truck driver Edgar Adesas and his helper John Rey Basilan. Other fatalities were Police Lt. Col. Charlie Abot and bystander Rachelle Dime.
The report said that Adesas and Basilan were onboard an Isuzu trailer truck (TUC 965) that was traversing a descending road in Sitio Bayabasan, Brgy. Aga, Nasugbu, Batangas around 7:00 a.m.
Witnesses said the truck’s tires blew out, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The truck then rammed Abot’s Toyota Vios (AJA 2193).
Abot died on the spot while Dime, who was sweeping at the side of the road, was also pinned to death.
The truck also rammed two other vehicles: a Toyota Wigo (ABP 9771), driven by Jomer Deñoso and a Toyota Fortuner (ZFZ 867), driven by Police Staff Sergeant Cesar Seña.
