Lamborghini Lanzador – The First Electric Raging Bull

The Miura, the Murcielago, the Huracan, the Aventador, the Urus – with the exception of a few, Lamborghini traditionally names its cars after bulls.

The new Lamborghini Lanzador is no exception, albeit the brand keeping faith with tradition ends there.

The iconic Italian automaker – known for its high-performance sports cars and eventually SUVs – is gearing up for a significant shift in its lineup, with a strong commitment to an electrified range in the coming years.

This commitment has resulted in the unveiling of the Lamborghini Lanzador, a groundbreaking fully electric concept that offers a glimpse into the brand’s innovative electric future.

An Electrified Evolution

At present, Lamborghini’s flagship is the Revuelto, a plug-in hybrid V12-powered sports car that showcases the brand’s technological prowess. However, the spotlight has now shifted to the Lamborghini Lanzador, an ultra GT with an astounding power output of over 1,300 horsepower. While still five years away from production, the concept suggests that Lamborghini is preparing to redefine the electric vehicle landscape.

Lamborghini describes the Lanzador as a unique fusion of an SUV and a coupe, introducing a new category known as “Ultra GT” – a grand turismo evolution that transcends traditional body styles. This blend of innovation extends to its powertrain, making it a pioneer in its own right.

Distinctive Design

The exterior of the Lamborghini Lanzador is nothing short of futuristic, with its design inspired by spaceships and aerodynamic principles. The concept features the iconic “single line silhouette” that culminates in a raised appearance, while retaining the brand’s signature low-slung stance. The front fascia is dominated by slim headlights reminiscent of the legendary Countach LPI 800-4, and the air intakes and splitter are aligned with Lamborghini’s hexagonal design theme.

The rear end of the Lanzador presents another futuristic crossover aesthetic, highlighted by three-box LED taillights and a wide, muscular rear diffuser. The vehicle’s side profile is characterized by large 23-inch wheels with aeroblades, contributing to reduced turbulence. The concept’s exterior is adorned in Azzurro Abissale, a bespoke paint created exclusively for its unveiling.

Uncharted Dimensions

As a brand-new concept that pioneers a novel segment, the Lamborghini Lanzador introduces fresh dimensions that challenge conventions. While specific dimensions have not been disclosed, its height of around 59 inches places it between the Urus and the Sterrato models. This innovative vehicle is expected to fill the gap between an SUV and a sports car, ushering in a new era of Lamborghini design.

Electrifying Performance

The Lamborghini Lanzador is set to deliver an electrifying performance with “one megawatt of power” generated by two electric motors, translating to approximately 1,340 horsepower.

This power promises exhilarating acceleration, while the Lanzador’s “grand turismo” designation hints at a balanced blend of performance and comfort. The active chassis includes a steerable rear axle and air suspension, enhancing adaptability to different road surfaces.

Aerodynamic elements such as an adjustable front air shutter, movable splitter, and various air vents contribute to improved downforce and handling precision. Torque distribution to each axle is controlled individually, and the Wheelspeed Control feature optimizes power distribution for agile handling.

High-Tech Interior

The Lamborghini Lanzador’s interior embraces a, well, futuristic and spacious cockpit, showcasing an intelligent use of EV components to optimize interior room. Designed as a “2+2 lifestyle concept,” the vehicle accommodates four occupants, with adjustable rear seats and cargo space for enhanced practicality. The interior design takes cues from fighter jets, with Y-themed styling on the seats and dashboard.

Sustainability takes center stage in the Lanzador’s interior materials, featuring Merino wool, sustainably tanned leather, and recycled materials. The cabin also showcases a unique regenerated two-layer carbon composite, emphasizing Lamborghini’s commitment to innovation and environmental consciousness.

An Electrified Future Beckons

With its first fully electric concept, Lamborghini is setting the stage for an electrified future that combines cutting-edge technology, distinctive design, and sustainable materials. It’s far from the gas-guzzling Lamborghini supercars we know today, but even legendary automakers have to bend tradition to comply with change.

While the Lamborghini Lanzador is still in its concept phase, the anticipation for its 2028 debut is already palpable among enthusiasts and industry experts alike. As the brand enters uncharted territory with the Lanzador, the automotive world eagerly awaits the dawn of a new era in electrification, led by the iconic Raging Bull emblem.
