The Chinese-Swedish luxury vehicle brand Lynk & Co is set to make its grand entrance into the Philippine automotive scene, marking a significant milestone in its global expansion strategy. Under the distributorship of United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), Lynk & Co is gearing up to introduce its cutting-edge models to Filipino motorists, promising a blend of luxury, performance, and innovation.
To herald its much-anticipated arrival, Lynk & Co hosted an exclusive preview event at The Ayala Museum, showcasing two of its upcoming models – the Lynk & Co 01 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) crossover and the 06 SUV. The event brought together UAAGI executives and members of the local motoring media, offering a firsthand glimpse of what the brand has in store for the Philippine market.
While specific details regarding the specs and pricing of the models remain under wraps, we got the chance to witness the sleek designs and advanced features of the Lynk & Co 01 PHEV and 06 SUV up close. These vehicles represent the culmination of collaborative efforts between the Volvo Car Group and the Geely Auto Group, harnessing the collective expertise and resources of two automotive powerhouses.
The Lynk & Co 01 PHEV, a compact five-door crossover, boasts the Compact Euro Vehicle Technology (CMA) platform, which it shares with the Volvo XC40. Equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine coupled with an electric motor, the 01 PHEV offers an impressive electric-only range of up to 70 kilometers, delivering both performance and efficiency.
Upon its debut in the local market, it will go head-to-head with rivals like the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid and Peugeot 3008.
Meanwhile, the Lynk & Co 06 SUV, a subcompact crossover, rides on the B-Segment Modular Architecture (BMA) Platform, featuring a potent 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-3 engine capable of producing 178 horsepower. Positioned to compete against popular models such as the GAC GS3 Emzoom and Geely Coolray, the 06 SUV promises a thrilling driving experience coupled with modern amenities and safety features.
“We introduce Lynk & Co Philippines to the local market with much excitement and positivity, knowing that this brand affords Filipinos the opportunity to drive home a premium, global vehicle that ticks all the right boxes in terms of design aesthetic, safety, and modern connectivity,” said UAAGI Group Managing Director and Lynk & Co PH Brand Head Froiland Dytianquin.
UAAGI Chairman Rommel L. Sytin emphasized how Lynk & Co’s addition to their portfolio expands their offerings, catering to the evolving preferences of Filipino motorists. “We believe Lynk & Co Philippines perfectly complements UAAGI’s existing offerings, providing Filipinos with a wider range of modern, stylish, safe, high-quality automotive choices,” UAAGI Chairman Rommel L. Sytin added.
