JAC Motors showcases diverse lineup at 2024 MIAS

JAC Motors has made a triumphant return to the local automotive market. The 2024 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) served as the stage for JAC’s reentry, under the distributorship of Astara Philippines. With a display of six all-new models, JAC Motors aims to make a significant impact, promising a blend of technology, design, performance, and value.

Leading the charge is the JAC JS6, positioned as the brand’s flagship compact crossover. Boasting a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine generating 178 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque, the JS6 is equipped with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, promising an engaging driving experience. Its futuristic exterior design and well-appointed interior, complete with amenities like wireless smartphone charging and a 24.6-inch dual-screen display, elevate the JS6’s appeal.

Joining the lineup is the JAC JS4, targeting the subcompact crossover segment. Despite its smaller size, the JS4 packs a punch with features such as automatic climate control and smartphone integration. Powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine delivering 147 horsepower and 210 Nm of torque, the JS4 offers a compelling option in its category.

Families seeking a three-row vehicle will find solace in the JAC JS8 Pro. With its striking design language and an array of features including a sunroof and advanced driver assist systems, the JS8 Pro aims to cater to discerning buyers. Its 1.5-liter engine, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, promises a blend of power and efficiency suitable for varied driving conditions.

For enthusiasts of utility vehicles, JAC introduces the T8 Pro and T9 pickup trucks. While both models boast off-road capabilities and a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine producing 167 horsepower and 410 Nm of torque, the T9 distinguishes itself with its focus on lifestyle and comfort features, catering to both business and personal use.

Adding an electrifying touch to the lineup is the JAC Ytterby EV, positioned as a highly capable electric vehicle with a range of up to 505 kilometers. Its distinctive design and feature-rich interior, including an advanced driver assist suite and panoramic sunroof, showcase JAC’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Pricing and Availability

While pricing details remain officially undisclosed, representatives from JAC Motors has shared indicative pricing for two of their vehicles, namely the JS8 Pro and T9. The 7-seater crossover’s top-spec variant will be priced around P1.3 million, while the truck’s top-of-the-line 4×4 AT variant will go for P1.5 million. Considering the prices of JAC’s top contenders from Japanese, American, and even Chinese automakers, these are highly competitive.

JAC Motors announced plans to commence sales in August 2024, setting the stage for eagerly awaited launches in the coming months. Reflecting on JAC’s previous presence in the country, particularly in the commercial car segment, the brand’s reemergence under Astara’s distributorship holds promise for a more impactful return.

With a lineup tailored to meet the evolving preferences of consumers, encompassing crossovers, pickup trucks, and electric vehicles, JAC is poised to make a compelling case for itself in the competitive Philippine automotive landscape.

As the automotive industry witnesses a shift towards electrification and increased focus on sustainability, the inclusion of the Ytterby EV underscores JAC’s commitment to embracing these trends and offering viable solutions to the evolving needs of consumers. With its comprehensive lineup and strategic approach, JAC Motors stands ready to carve out a significant presence in the Philippines once again.
