Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines has taken the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) by storm, debuting the company’s lineup at the annual event. With sleek designs, cutting-edge technology, and a focus on catering to the preferences of younger car buyers, these brands under the Chery Group, are set to make waves in the Filipino automotive market.
Let’s start with Omoda, which showcased two captivating models at MIAS – the Omoda 5 and the Omoda E5 electric vehicle (EV). Designed to appeal to the younger demographic, both models boast striking aesthetics and interiors loaded with advanced features.
The Omoda 5 is equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), delivering up to 148 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque to the front wheels. Meanwhile, the Omoda E5 is powered by an electric motor capable of producing 204 hp and 400 Nm of torque.
With a claimed range of up to 450 km on a single charge, the Omoda E5 offers eco-conscious drivers a compelling option for emissions-free transportation. Charging the Omoda E5 is a breeze, thanks to its AC/DC charging capability. In just 30 minutes, the vehicle can reach 80 percent charge levels, making it convenient for drivers on the go. Additionally, its 110 kW peak DC fast charging capability ensures speedy recharges, further enhancing the EV ownership experience.
Turning our attention to Jaecoo, the brand unveiled two crossover SUVs – the Jaecoo J7 and J8. While both models feature unibody construction, they cater to different market segments and driving preferences.
The Jaecoo J8 is positioned as a luxury seven-seater ride, offering premium comfort and amenities to discerning drivers. Equipped with a robust 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, the J8 delivers 249 hp and 385 Nm of torque. Like its sibling, it boasts all-wheel-drive capability, providing enhanced traction and stability in various driving conditions.
On the other hand, the Jaecoo J7 is a five-seat crossover designed to tackle slightly challenging terrain with ease. Powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine generating 197 hp and 290 Nm of torque, the Jaecoo J7 offers a perfect balance of performance and practicality. Its seven-speed wet-type dual-clutch transmission ensures smooth and responsive shifts, enhancing the overall driving dynamics.
Overall, the debut of Omoda and Jaecoo at the Manila International Auto Show signals an exciting new chapter in the Philippine automotive industry. Speaking of pricing, the company has yet to be announced for each vehicle, but Omoda & Jaecoo estimates that the Omoda 5 will be sold under P1.4 million.
