With a wheelbase stretching almost three meters, the Audi Q8 3.0 TFSI MHEV’s interior space exceeds those of its direct competitors in almost all relevant dimensions, and thus offers luxurious space for five people. And while allowing for the convenient versatility of a large SUV, the Audi Q8 also possesses the elegance of a four-door luxury coupe.
This mix of generously dimensioned interior, variable luggage space, state-of-the-art operating and suspension technologies, as well as intelligent assistance systems, makes the Audi Q8 a compelling companion for business and leisure.
Serving as the centerpiece in the Audi Q8’s interior is the upper MMI touch response display whose black-panel look dissolves into a large, black surface when switched off. This upper display uses a 10.1-inch screen for controlling the infotainment and the navigation system. Another 8.6-inch display, placed at the lower part of the dash, allows the driver to access ventilation, air-conditioning and comfort functions, as well as text input. Both high-resolution touch displays need almost no buttons or knobs, and offer haptic and acoustic feedback.
The Audi Q8 exudes sportiness and prestige like no other SUV from the brand with the four rings, thanks to an octagonal Singleframe grille, distinctive headlights, coupe-style roof line, frameless doors and muscular quattro blisters reminiscent of those found on the original Audi quattro. Its bold front end, short rear overhang, high ground clearance and huge wheels paint a picture of powerful dynamics.
Powering the Audi Q8 is a turbocharged, 3.0-liter, six-cylinder TFSI gasoline engine with spark-ignition. It produces 340 hp and maximum torque of 500 Nm between 1,370 rpm and 4,500 rpm, enough to send the vehicle from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
Despite the power, the Audi Q8 is fuel efficient partly because it has a mild hybrid system composed mainly of a lithium-ion battery and a belt alternator starter (BAS) supplying the 48 V main electrical system. When decelerating, BAS enables up to 12 kW of energy to be recovered and feeds this into the battery. At speeds between 55 km/h and 160 km/h, the stored energy is used to let the Audi Q8 coast for up to 40 seconds with the engine switched off (BAS seamlessly restarts the engine when the throttle is reapplied).
Transferring the engine’s output to the axles are an eight-speed tiptronic transmission and the quattro permanent all-wheel drive unit. Standard on Audi Q8 are 21-inch graphite gray alloy wheels with a five-arm star design. Also fitted as standard are an adaptive air suspension with damper control (which can adjust the vehicle’s ride height depending on the driving situation and the driver’s preference) and the Audi drive select dynamic handling feature.
The Audi Q8 3.0 TFSI MHEV is among the models included in the ongoing Audi Factory Warehouse Sale 2.0 promo — which runs until August 31. Made possible through the special support extended by Audi AG, the promo offers significant price reductions on 2020 Audi models, some of which are discounted by more than P1,000,000.
