Changan is going all-in on electric at this year’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), showcasing four electrified vehicles as it pushes further into the Philippine EV market. At its booth at the World Trade Center in Pasay, Changan Philippines, under the distributorship of Inchcape Philippines, is putting its electric ambitions front and center with three official launches and one vehicle preview.
The lineup includes the Nevo Q05 plug-in hybrid SUV, the Hunter K50 range-extended electric pickup, the Lumin battery electric hatchback, and a sneak peek at the Nevo A05 plug-in hybrid sedan. Here’s a quick breakdown of what Changan brought to the show floor—and why it matters.
Nevo Q05: A PHEV SUV Built for Options

Leading the charge is the Nevo Q05, a compact SUV that runs on both gas and electricity. It’s powered by a 1.5L gasoline engine that acts as a range extender, paired with an 18.4 kWh battery. In pure electric mode, it offers a claimed 125 km of range; with the range extender, that number jumps to a hefty 1,215 km.

The Q05 allows drivers to switch between three drive modes—pure electric, hybrid, and range-extended—making it flexible for city or long-distance use. Inside, it’s packed with features like leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a large touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety-wise, the top trim comes with a full suite of driver-assist systems like lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking.
Hunter K50: A Pickup with a Twist

The Hunter K50 is an eye-catcher at MIAS, mostly because it’s something you don’t see every day—a range-extended electric pickup. It looks rugged and tough, with flared wheel arches and a bold, grille-less front, but it’s also electric under the hood. The 4×2 variant delivers 174 hp and 320 Nm of torque, while the 4×4 version bumps that up to 268 hp and 470 Nm. It can go 180 km on electric power alone, and over 1,000 km with its range extender.

Just like the BYD Shark 6 DMO, the other range-extended electric truck, the Hunter K50 has Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability—it can power external devices like appliances through standard 220V outlets, making it a potential go-to for campers or emergency use. It also has a 2.5-ton towing capacity, which puts it in serious workhorse territory.
Lumin: Small Size, Big Appeal

If the Q05 and Hunter are aimed at bigger ambitions, the Lumin keeps things compact and simple. It’s a tiny hatchback designed for the city—lightweight, affordable, and zero emissions. Two battery options are available: one offering 190 km of range and another promising 301 km.

The Lumin keeps things basic but functional, with Bluetooth audio, a small digital cluster, and fold-flat rear seats that expand trunk space up to 580L. Its modest 47 hp electric motor is nothing wild, but should be plenty for daily commuting. It’s also surprisingly well-equipped in terms of safety, featuring airbags, ABS, stability control, and even a tire pressure monitoring system.
A05 Preview: Changan’s Plug-In Sedan

Still under wraps but making its public debut is the Nevo A05, a sleek plug-in hybrid sedan slated for release later in the year. Like the Q05, it runs on a 1.5L engine paired with a hybrid transmission, producing 212 hp and 330 Nm. It boasts 145 km of pure electric range and up to 1,250 km total with the extender.

Changan says the A05 will include a 13.2-inch touchscreen, leather seating, and advanced safety systems like lane assist and traffic jam assist. Pricing and final specs are still to be confirmed.
Pricing and Test Drives
To attract attention, Changan is offering introductory pricing on all models until April 13, 2025. The Lumin starts at just P669,000, while the top-spec Hunter K50 4×4 is pegged at P1,880,000. Visitors at MIAS can also get behind the wheel—test drives are available for the Q05, K50, and Lumin at the outdoor driving area.
Changan’s booth at MIAS 2025 doesn’t just talk about going electric—it shows up with a varied lineup that caters to different lifestyles: a commuter hatchback, a family SUV, a utility truck, and a stylish sedan. While the designs and tech features are impressive, the real test will be how they perform on Philippine roads and how the local market responds to Changan’s bold electric play.
But if you’re EV-curious and looking for something beyond the usual suspects, they are worth checking them out before the show wraps up on April 13.
