Pushing manufacturer- and distributor-backed local motorsports to an even higher plane, Mazda Philippines, together with RaceGAS Dynamics, is set to make racing fans’ hearts pumping with a new one-make sports car racing series that starts in May next year.

RaceGAS Dynamics formally introduces the Miata Spec Series, the country’s only rear-wheel drive sports car racing championship, which features the latest edition of the fourth-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata.

Designed to deliver the spectacle of sports car racing to local aficionados, the Miata Spec Series combines everyday car practicality with high-powered on-track performance as it features model year 2019-and-above manual transmission-equipped MX-5s that are prepared with performance and safety components which maximize the car’s dynamic potential. Impressively, even with the installation of custom competition parts, the cars remain street-legal and will be drivable over public roads.

”Ever since I began my racing career, I have always wanted to create a sports car series that allows the cars’ owners to enjoy their rides  whether on the track or on the road,” shares Allan Uy, president of RaceGAS Dynamics, the exclusive promoter and organizer of the series.

He adds, “With the Mazda MX-5, we are able to realize this dream. With its amazing driving dynamics, inherently light platform, as well as its potent engine, drivetrain and rear-wheel drive configuration, Miata Spec Series participants will get the enjoy the pureness of sports car racing at a reasonable cost.”

With an introductory price of P2,500,000, each brand new MX-5 Soft Top Manual Transmission racecar is built to series specifications by RaceGAS Dynamics. All Miata Spec Series cars will come with brand new Cusco coilovers and sway bar suspension components, a Sparco steering wheel, racing seat and racing harness, a six-point roll cage that allows operation of the soft top assembly, a full cat-back exhaust system, one set of 17×7.5-inch Concept One wheels and 215/45R17 Nitto high-performance tires, and a full set of apparel which includes racing suit, shoes and gloves.
