Mazda Philippines has announced a novel ‘Build Your Personal MX-5’ program that grants buyers of the bestselling roadster a degree of personalization seldom seen in a mass-produced model. A bespoke program, if you will.
But before you start imagining Rolls-Royce levels of bespoke and entertain visions of exotic animal skins for the upholstery or a custom zebra stripe paint job or special champagne flutes stashed in their own refrigerated holder, bear in mind that the personalization of the MX-5 is limited to the exterior and interior colors, transmission choices, seat material, as well as the colors of the soft and hard tops.
This may seem limited—at least as far as factory options go—until you realize that there are a total of 78 combinations available. Which gives any specific configuration a very high chance of becoming a truly rare one. Every MX-5 buyer can now truly realize a roadster that best represents their personality. Buyers specify their choices when they pre-order their MX-5, and the waiting time for delivery is said to be around five or six months.

Today, the ownership journey begins with an even more exciting process of personalizing one’s own MX-5. Mazda Philippines’ Build Your Personal MX-5 Program starts this month, November, for the 2021 model year MX-5.
New for 2021 are available premium-grade, 6-speed manual transmission MX-5 soft-top variants. Clients can now bask in luxurious leather seats, either in Red Nappa or Premium Black Leather, and enjoy a 9-speaker Bose sound system. Standard for Premium Soft Top Manual Transmission models are Bilstein dampers and front strut bars.
New for the 2021 MX-5 Soft Top is a new soft top color, Dark Cherry, on top of the current Classic Black soft top while also new for 2021 is the body color Deep Crystal Blue Mica.

This is a privilege previously found only in luxury sports car brands. And now, we make it available to Mazda clients who wish to create an even more personal MX-5 to suit their personality.”
The customized pre-order will be initiated by a reservation fee in any of the 19 Mazda dealerships nationwide. Mazda sales consultants have been trained to handle client requests and orders through this program. Personalized orders is expected to take an average lead time of between four to six months from order to delivery, depending on production allocation capacity and shipping logistics timing.
All Mazda MX-5 variants are powered by the 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G engine that produces 184ps and 205Nm of torque. Through innovations in engine, chassis, suspension and body design in Skyactiv Technology, this roadster remains true to its original concept as a lightweight, open-top sports car that delivers a pure driving experience.
As with all Mazda vehicles sold in the country, the Mazda MX-5 comes with a 5-Year Free Service Plan. It covers all expenses of periodic maintenance at either 6-month or 10,000km intervals, for up to five years or 100,000km, whichever comes first. This gives Mazda owners security and peace of mind as they begin their Mazda premium ownership experience.
