What the reopening of Lamborghini’s storied museum celebrates

Automobili Lamborghini earlier this week reopened the doors of its storied museum—the MUDETEC, or the Museum of Technologies—in Sant’Agata Bolognese via an exhibition titled “Future is our legacy.” The exhibition captures the philosophy of Automobili Lamborghini as it strives to constantly look toward the future even while never forgetting its past.

Future is our legacy also coincides with two important milestones in the company’s history: the 20th anniversary of the MUDETEC, an evolution of Lamborghini’s original museum, and the 50th anniversary of Lamborghini’s iconic Countach.

In true Lamborghini tradition, the exhibition—divided over two floors in the museum—perfectly synthesizes innovation and tradition. A tunnel at the entrance ignites visitors’ emotions with the unmistakable sound of the company’s V12 engine, along with a video that celebrates Lamborghini’s legendary V12 models. On the ground floor, the path is laid out so that guests can discover the models produced from the 1960s to the 1990s, ranging from the Miura to the Diablo. The exhibit then takes a leap into the futuristic design of two recent visionary models, the Essenza SCV12 and the Vision GT.

Without a doubt, the undisputed protagonist of the second floor display is the Countach, a model that helped make Lamborghini a legend, in addition to it being the bedroom poster of choice for an entire generation, as well as a star in dozens of international films. Placed on a platform, the Countach seems to “look over” the models produced since 2000, all of which the Countach provided the inspiration for in terms of both design and technological solutions.

The Future is our legacy tour continues on with displays of Lamborghini’s limited-edition models such as the Reventón, Sesto Elemento, Veneno, Centenario, and the first Lamborghini with hybrid technology, the Sián.

Enriching the exhibition are activities with innovative digital content, offering Lamborghini fans an exciting and interactive experience—like using an advanced driving simulator, or get a photo next to a favorite Lamborghini placed in a unique location of their choice.
