A merger in mobility: Global auto components giant Aisin collaborates with Advics and Art

Almost half of all cars sold in the Philippines are Toyotas. You see Toyotas on the road in every corner of the world. Even to non-automotive enthusiasts, the foremost Japanese automaker is one of the world’s most recognizable brands.

But did you know that under the gleaming sheet metal of close to 200 million Toyotas produced in over eight decades is a brand that has become an industry icon in its own right?

Aisin Corporation

That brand is Aisin. Aisin is a Japanese corporation that develops and produces over 10,000 types of various components and systems for the automotive industry and is a Fortune Global 500 company. It is ranked 359th in the 2020 rankings and is the 6th largest automotive parts supplier in sales of original equipment (OE) parts globally. Aisin is a member of the Toyota Group of companies.

Aisin was founded in 1965 and now supplies engine, drivetrain, body and chassis, aftermarket, and other main automotive parts not only for Toyota and Lexus, but for various other major car brands as well.

Like a true global entity, Aisin has multiple offices, plants, and research centers in three major markets all over the world: close to a dozen locations in Japan and Singapore for the Asian market, three states in the U.S. for the North American market, and two cities in Belgium for Europe.

But while Aisin might be most famous for producing manual and automatic transmissions, the company has also advanced to designing and manufacturing state-of-the-art hybrid drivetrains and propulsion systems not just for Toyota, but also for Ford and Chrysler. Other brands that use Aisin components worldwide include Audi, Volvo, General Motors, Honda, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, and Nissan. These world-renowned brands use not just Aisin transmissions, but Aisin power sliding doors, hands-free power tailgates, and solid-state drive (SSD) navigation systems, among many other parts.

And now, the industry OE giant has teamed up with two other Japanese automotive components stalwarts—Advics, which stands for Advanced Intelligent Chassis Systems and Art Metal Mfg. Co., Ltd.

Advics + Art Metal Mfg. Co., Ltd.

Advics is a world-class manufacturer of ultra-premium OE brake system components that are engineered and manufactured with industry-leading technology and is composed of Aisin, Denso, and Sumitomo Electric—three of the world’s premier automotive suppliers. It’s ranked as the No. 3 brake manufacturer in the world and represents the very best of Japanese quality, global expertise, and environmental sustainability.

Art Metal Mfg., meanwhile, was established in 1945 in Nagano, Japan and has become a major original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of pistons for car engines. Just last year, Art Metal was awarded the prestigious Deming Prize, the longest-running and one of the highest awards on Total Quality Management (TQM) in the world.

Together, the three companies are set to push the limits of mobility, transportation, and logistics for Toyota, Lexus, and a vast number of leading car companies worldwide.

Aiming to be an ‘Irreplaceable Global Partner’

The Aisin Group has promoted the spinoff of companies into a network of subsidiaries and affiliates centered on Aisin Seiki, to effectively leverage its advanced technological capabilities in the diversifying auto industry.

By optimizing each company into a specialized business domain, it has become a corporate group able to process diverse materials such as steel, aluminum, and resin into products that cover virtually all elements of driving that include the operating, turning, and stopping functions of automobiles.

But it’s not just the present that Aisin, Advics, and Art are focused on. The triumvirate continues to set its sights on the near and distant future as it develops the most innovative automotive components and systems that motorists will be driving and experiencing 10 or even 20 years from now.

Quality and dependability that doesn’t stop at the vehicle assembly line

To deliver a safer, more dependable, and more comfortable driving experience, the Aisin Group capitalizes on its strengths as a comprehensive auto parts manufacturer to offer its after-sales customers worldwide an extensive lineup of products for replacement, repair, and customization. Aisin Asia is the regional HQ for Aisin Aftermarket Business for Asia Pacific region. Its extensive sales network within the region enable the company to provide timely support to its customers in this region.

A vision moving forward

Together, the Aisin Group philosophy is one of inspiring movement in creating tomorrow, with a mission of delivering beauty to the future earth, all while bringing freedom and happiness to movement.

The group will act on its consumers’ dreams and aspirations, showing concrete solutions to environmental and social challenges, and focusing on the evolution of movement by way of clean power as its core pursuit while creating a safe and comfortable future for all.
