An enthusiast’s delight – Nissan unveils 2022 Almera with turbo and manual transmission

Nissan Philippines seems like they are not letting go of their launch mode. After bringing in the heavily facelifted Navara, and just a few weeks ago the new Terra, they just pulled the curtains on the 2022 Nissan Almera. It’s sleeker than the outgoing model and is now available with a turbo while retaining its manual transmission even for the mid variant.

The new Almera now has the V-motion grille but also utilizes a new design language called “Emotional Geometry.” Complimenting those are LED headlights, taillights, daytime running lights and taillamps. It also has a floating roof accent thanks to the break by the C-pillar.

Powering the new Almera is a 1-liter 3-cylinder turbo engine with 99 hp and 152 Nm of torque for the ones paired with an XTRONIC CVT, while torque is at 160 for those coupled to the 5-speed manual. The auto variants also get an Idling Stop System. All together, Nissan says this is capable of 23.3 km/l during their test.

The Nissan sedan is now more stylish, smarter, and turbo-charged

Despite being a bit spartan, the turbo engine still made its way on the EL MT base variant. Accompanying it are single-zone automatic climate control, hill start assist, and standard safety features like ABS, vehicle dynamic control, front airbags, and ISOFIX tethers.

The VE trims gets LED headlights, power folding side mirrors, DRL, 7-inch multi-info display, keyless entry, push start button, 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay (no Android Auto), 6 speakers, and in-glass antenna. It also got additional Nissan Intelligent Mobility toys like Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, Forward Collision Warning, and Emergency Braking.

The top-of-the-line VL N-Sport gets a subtle body kit package, LED foglamps, dark chrome grille, 60-40 split folding backseat, with all seats clad in black leather. It has the same interior amenities as the VE trim but gets more toys in Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite, having Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
