Mazda soars to new heights of premium with 2022 line

Did you know that the logo of Mazda denotes stylized wings that symbolizes the company’s aspirations to continuosuly soar to new heights?

It’s this same lofty aspiration that led the company to pursue the development of the enthusiast-acclaimed rotary engine—and eventually give the company the distinction of becoming the first Japanese carmaker to win the grueling 24 Hours of Le Mans, breaking the stranglehold of European marques that have won the endurance race for almost 70 years straight.

The company continuously enjoyed strong winds beneath their wings, becoming renowned as a maker of premium driver’s cars—not just for their sports cars and roadsters, but even for their coupes, sedans, and more recently, their crossovers.

And now the Hiroshima-based brand is moving their premium positioning even further upmarket. In line with the company’s long-term strategy of continuous advance upward in design, craftsmanship and technology, Mazda Philippines fortifies its standing as a premium Japanese car marque with the introduction of its 2022 Mazda Premium Collection. Featuring enhancements in the Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda CX-3 and Mazda CX-30 that incorporate elevated levels of comfort, distinguished craftsmanship, class-leading technology and superior safety features, the 2022 model year lineup promises to provide customers more of the heightened driving experience and premium experience they have come to expect from Mazda.

Since assuming the distributorship for the Mazda brand in the country in 2013, Bermaz Auto Philippines has kept in step with the global direction of Mazda Motor Corporation to elevate its products and services towards a premium positioning.

With every incoming model generation, Mazda has made available to the market models that demonstrate distinctive luxury and class-above quality and finish. Combined with the evolution of the striking Kodo: Soul of Motion design language and the latest in Mazda Skyactiv Technology for engine, chassis, body, suspension and driving dynamics, the Philippine market has been able to savor the value and enjoy the sublime driving performance that Mazda has to offer.

“Mazda’s journey to premium continues into 2022,” says Steven Tan, president and CEO of Mazda Philippines. “We are committed to raising the standards of design, quality, performance, environmental sustainability and safety in every vehicle category we are present in. We owe it to our customers to give them the same luxurious, fuel-efficient, technologically advanced and astoundingly safe Mazda models that are also available in the rest of the world. The 2022 Mazda Premium Collection lets our exclusive clientele create an even more lasting bond with their cars as they experience only the finest products and services they deserve,” adds Tan.

Complementing this distinctive styling cue are black 16-inch alloy wheels, further reinforcing the sporty profile of the Mazda2.

Owning a 2022 Mazda2 will truly offer the same familiar level of comfort, technology and safety as the rest of the Mazda lineup.”

The 2022 Mazda3: Introducing Mazda’s Mild Hybrid Technology

With its clean, graceful and dignified design, the Mazda3 continues to be a popular model in Mazda Philippines’ lineup. For 2022, the Mazda3 offers an even higher level of technology with the introduction of e-Skyactiv-G Mild Hybrid (M Hybrid) Technology.

The new Mazda M Hybrid system significantly improves on the proven Mazda i-eloop system found in the Mazda3, Mazda6 and MX-5. By mating a DC/DC converter, an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), and Regenerative Friction Brake Coordination system with a new 24-volt M Hybrid Lithium-Ion battery, the 2022 Mazda3 realizes significant improvements in fuel economy and emission reduction.

Using energy stored in the on-board M-Hybrid Lithium battery through regenerative deceleration, the Mazda M-Hybrid system supplements power generation and supply to the Mazda3’s electrical systems. While the new ISG seamlessly restarts the engine in idle-stop (iStop) situations. ISG also assists in smoothening upshifts during gear changes.

Both innovations not only reduce load on the 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G engine, but also improve drivability and engine performance, leading to a more luxurious driving experience.

The system also realizes an improvement in overall power output from 155 to 164ps. Furthermore, overall torque is improved from 200Nm to 213Nm. The net result is improved fuel economy and more dynamic power delivery.

The 2022 Mazda3 M Hybrid is available in both Fastback and Sedan body types to suit individual customer preferences. As the model line’s new premier offering, it showcases the finest in craftsmanship, build quality, and features already found in the current Premium line.

Together with the introduction of the two new M-Hybrid variants, the rest of the 2022 Mazda3 lineup now shifts up to an even higher feature set. The current Mazda3 Sedan and Fastback Elite have been significantly upgraded to the 2.0-liter Skyactiv engine (the 1.5-liter engine is no longer offered) along with full black leather seats similar to the rest of the new variants. The engines for both non-M-Hybrid variants will produce 155ps of power and 200Nm of torque.

Also now standard for all 2022 Mazda3 variants is the 12-speaker BOSE Sound System.

“The 2022 Mazda3 symbolizes Mazda’s aspirations to be a vehicle manufacturer that aims to create a lasting bond between driver and car while being responsible stewards to both the Earth and Society,” states Tan. “With the introduction of e-Skyactiv-G M Hybrid technology, our customers can now help contribute to Mazda’s long-term goals and share in its philosophy as they enjoy an even more engaging and luxurious drive.”

The 2022 Mazda3 lineup is priced as follows:

Mazda3 2.0L Fastback and Sedan Sport: P1,495,000

Mazda3 2.0L Fastback and Sedan M Hybrid: P1,695,000

The 2022 Mazda CX-30: Championing a sustainable future

Mazda Philippines’ rationalization of its product portfolio for 2022 is in line with corporate efforts to address customer demands and wider environmental concerns. That is why starting this coming model year, the Mazda CX-30 is exclusively available in front-wheel drive M Hybrid configuration.

The 2022 Mazda CX-30 features the e-Skyactiv-G M Hybrid engine and battery system. The mild hybrid powertrain makes use of regenerative braking technology to recover energy usually lost during braking to power the vehicle’s on-board electronics. A motor then assists with engine acceleration from standstill.

The use of this recovered energy, along with automatic engine shut-off at decelerating speeds below 20kph, lessens demand on the engine and increases vehicle mileage per tank of fuel. With the e-Skyactiv-G M Hybrid, Mazda customers not only realize a smoother drive, but also achieve phenomenal fuel savings and lower emissions without having to worry about plugging in or charging.

The 2022 Mazda CX-30 M Hybrid retains the same luxurious human-centric amenities such as full red leather seats, a 12-Speaker BOSE audio system, LED Adaptive Front-Lighting System, 360-degree view camera, and distinctive high-gloss black 18-inch wheels.

i-Activsense features such as Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Smart Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, and Rear-Cross Traffic Alert remain to ensure the reduction of driving incidents. Seven airbags continue to lessen the risk of severe passenger injury in case of a collision.

“For 2022, the Mazda CX-30 moves up to deliver an even more efficient and well-rounded driving experience,” says Tan. “In line with Mazda’s global initiatives, we see the introduction of the 2022 CX-30 e-Skyactiv-G M Hybrid as the first step for us to participate and be relevant partners in achieving the brand’s goals. All while keeping with the high level of quality and premium finish our customers have come to expect from Mazda.”

With its premium specifications and innovative powertrain, the 2022 Mazda CX-30 M Hybrid is priced at P1,990,000.

The 2022 Mazda Premium Collection will be available in a new premium exterior color called Platinum Quartz. A daring mixture of bright aluminum flakes and opaque pigment, it illuminates the beautiful characteristics of Kodo: Soul of Motion design philosophy, bringing it to life in a whole new way.

All 16 Mazda showrooms nationwide will carry the 2022 Mazda Premium Collection beginning December 2021. All brand-new models in the lineup are covered by Mazda Philippines’ standard 5 Years Free Service Plan. This ensures a worry-free driving experience, free from parts pricing fluctuations, and additional billings for preventive maintenance expenses such as oil, parts and labor, over the course of a normal 5-year ownership. Along with the 3-Year Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty, every purchase of a brand-new Mazda is a premium experience that is now made even more rewarding.
