During a recent brand-sponsored media drive of the Honda Civic, much of the attention went to how the Civic performed on the road – which was sublime, by the way, but that’s for another story.
However, the kid in me begged to differ. What piqued my interest was a new color for the Civic. It was my first time seeing that color in the metal, and I’m glad that I actually did so. In my humble opinion, the one you see here is the best color you can get for a new Honda Civic. Not the RS-specific red (Ignite Red Metallic) nor the gray (Meteoroid Gray Metallic), but this – the Morning Mist Blue Metallic.
At first glance, you might dismiss the Morning Mist Blue Civic as another gray or silver car. But looking at it closely, the slightly silver exterior paint actually has a tint of blue, especially when not in direct sunlight.
More importantly, it kind of morphs into a shade of yellow depending on the lighting, which makes the color really special. The play in my visual sense was just so satisfying and you have to see it in the metal so you’ll understand my fascination.
This color actually reminds me of the first-generation Mazda3 from the early 2000s when a morphing blue color was available. It was like that, albeit toned down a little and more sophisticated looking. And yes, I was just a kid during that time, hence my fascination with colors.
Get ready for a bummer, though. Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) Morning Mist Blue Metallic color for the Honda Civic is only available for the S and V variants at no additional price. If you’re going for the sporty and fully-equipped Civic RS, this color isn’t going to be an option for you.
Then again, if you’re with me in saying that this is the best Honda Civic color, the S and V variants aren’t exactly bad propositions for a car. They’re actually great to drive and equipped enough for the price, especially with the Honda SENSING tech that’s standard across the range.
