MG Concourse at MIAS 2022 highlights new HS, MG5 Core Plus

Right at the heels of the launch of the HS compact SUV, The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), the exclusive distributor of MG vehicles in the Philippines, graces the 2022 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) with a new update to its lineup.

For 2022, MG Philippines is introducing the MG5 Core Plus variant to the sedan’s range. The Core Plus variant is an upgrade to the popular Core CVT variant but has been given several upgrades. The updates include a 10-inch color display touchscreen equipped with both Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a reversing camera, and two additional speakers connected to the new infotainment system.

The MG5 Core Plus variant is still powered by the same 1.5-liter, DOHC 16V, naturally aspirated gasoline engine of the rest of the range. It churns out 112hp and 150Nm of pulling power. Available for this new variant is a set of features, namely driver and passenger airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, a Bluetooth hands-free system, cruise control, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

The MG5 Core Plus sedan has a retail price of P748,888 but MG Philippines is offering the new trim level with a discounted price of P683,888 and a low down payment promo of P63,000.

“MG Philippines remains focused on delivering products and services that strongly resonate with the Philippine motoring public. We are attuned to the pulse of the local car market and its evolving preferences. Our commitment remains clear to us at TCCCI, for MG to be the most responsible purchase among car buyers. That leads us to continually offer modern and exciting automobiles at attainable price points. It is this commitment that has endeared thousands of Filipinos to the MG brand and its models over the short period of time that TCCCI has been officially distributing MG in the Philippines. Our participation in the MIAS 2022 is a strategic avenue for creating meaningful connections with our current MG owners and the motoring public. We look forward to presenting the best offers on how to own a well-equipped vehicle that shows the clear convergence of the British heritage of MG, the quality manufacturing experience of SAIC International, and the warm, signature care of the Filipino which is a commitment of TCCCI. We invite everyone to enjoy the MG Concourse experience,” says Atty. Alberto B. Arcilla, President and CEO of MG Philippines.

Meanwhile, the newly launched MG HS compact SUV also takes the center stage at MG Concourse. The company’s latest arsenal in its slew of crossovers builds upon the popularity of the ZS but in a bigger package.

The MG HS comes with an imposing exterior partnered with a premium cabin. The exterior styling is highlighted by a host of LEDs, fronted by the 9-Crystal Lighting with sequential turn light functionality. Inside, the HS features a bevy of soft-touch materials that bring out an upmarket feel.

But most importantly, the HS comes with a host of features such as a Blind Spot Detection System, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, EPS 3-mode Adjustable Steering, push start-stop functionality, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a proprietary “Sport Mode” that allows for crisper steering and throttle response.

The MG HS is powered by a 1.5 inline-4 DOHC turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 167hp and 250Nm of torque, coupled to a 7-speed Twin-Clutch Sportronic Transmission.

The MG HS sells for P1,258,888 for the Alpha variant, while the top-spec Trophy has a price tag of P1,308,888.
