Volvo electrifies MIAS 2022 with new hybrid lineup

Volvo Philippines is giving Filipinos a taste of its fresh electrified lineup at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). The Scandinavian luxury car company is fronting the newest hybrid cars in its new Boost range, representing the best of the best of its local lineup.

The newest hybrid additions in the Volvo range include the S90, the XC60, and the XC90 – all powered by the revamped B6 engine, introducing the 48V hybrid system that has the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) within.

Of note, the setup involves a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-pot gasoline engine connected to a 48-volt battery. The pair produces a combined power of 313hp and 460Nm of torque. Volvo PH claims that the fuel efficiency of this system is 9.4L/100km.

Apart from the obvious benefits of fuel efficiency, the Boost range touts various benefits that include brake energy recuperation, ensures smooth but greater power, enhanced day-to-day drivability, improved engine response, improved start/stop performance, and improved noise and vibration.

Apart from the electrified powertrains, Volvo’s new Boost range features exterior and interior enhancements for the top-spec models.

The Volvo XC60 comes with a restyled grille and front bumpers, while the R-Design styling details add pizzazz. The Volvo S90 executive sedan gets a more luxurious trim level with the long-wheelbase variant in the Inscription package.

Volvo’s flagship luxury SUV, the XC90, receives comfort and luxurious details with the Inscription trim.

“We put extra attention to detail, as always. Volvo has always been a brand about people. As we drive towards a post-pandemic world, we aim that everyone inside and outside our cars can have the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable, and safe way,” said Volvo PH CEO and President Atty. Albert B. Arcilla.

“We have made it our mission to make life better, easier, and safer for everyone. These are the reasons why we brought in new variants – to boost not just the quality of your everyday drive, but more importantly, to give you a vehicle that allows you to enjoy life more.”

Guests of the Volvo booth at the 2022 MIAS will be treated to event-exclusive perks and offers.

The new Volvo Boost hybrid range comes with the following price tags: the XC90 B6 Inscription Boost Hybrid sells for P5,590,000; the XC60 B6 R-Design Boost Hybrid goes for P4,290,000; the S90L B6 Inscription Boost Hybrid has a sticker price of P4,415,000.
