Chery PH plans to cover more range with their upcoming electrified vehicles

Chery has pretty much covered the price range in the Philippine market with their crossovers. From the Tiggo 2 Pro to the Tiggo 8 Pro, there’s a Chery crossover for you in their lineup. Now, they’re trying to do the same thing with their new energy cars.

Just this year they’ve introduced a slew of hybrids. The Tiggo 5x Pro Hybrid is currently their most affordable at PHP 1,140,000, followed by the Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid, then the Tiggo 8 Pro, which is a Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) with a starting price of PHP 2,500,000.

Now they’re planning to have more cars in that electrified mix. At the rceently conculded 11th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS), Chery Auto Philippines previewed three upcoming vehicles for our market: one hybrid and two full-electric cars, which will be the first full EVs for the brand.

Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV

The distinctive Tiggo pro grille is already a familiar sight with the Chery logo that I thought it was just a special trim. Turns out, the vehicle is a PHEV that will slot in under the Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV. It will have dual motors combined with a 1.5-liter turbo engine that in total, will put out 326ps and 545Nm of torque. There will be 3 driving modes with Full EV Mode, Hybrid Mode, and Internal Combustion Engine Mode. And like the name implies, the Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV can be charged via plugging into a wall charger, in addition to engine and regenerative charging.

Like its bigger plug-in brother, the Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV will come with a complete suite of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS). Additional creature comforts include dual 12.3-inch screens with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, powered front seats with 4-way Lumbar Support, Memory Function, and Ventilation.

eQ1

Taking a lot of attention in the Chery booth is the eQ1 they dub as a ‘micro’ full EV car. It’s a 2-door small hatchback that can seat four people. The body is made from aluminum, making it lighter and, combined with the single electric motor on a full charge, it can go up to 280 kilometers.

The eQ1 also has contemporary creature comforts like power front seats, wireless charger, a digital gauge cluster, and 10-inch touchscreen. It’s also equipped with Auto Brake Hold, disc brakes on all 4 wheels, ABS, and EBD. As for pricing, they said they’re targeting under a million pesos for this cute EV.

eQ7

A bigger EV for Chery was also previewed at the 11th PEVS. The eQ7 is a fully electric compact SUV with advanced amenities. The styling alone accounted for drag reduction, resulting in a minimalist look with a very low drag coefficient of only 0.31, with an active grille system that opens or closes according to running conditions to save on energy.

There is also an L2+ semi-autonomous driving system that comes with a complete and multi-scenario Advanced Driver Assist System, as well as a Driver Monitoring System that will check the state of the driver in real time. This safety suite is complemented by an all-aluminum body structure. The battery was also upgraded and is IPX9K waterproof, housed in dual armor protection. Range for the eQ7 on a single charge is up to 500km.

“Chery’s global advocacy to promote green mobility through technological innovation in the Philippines will be realized as we officially introduce these new energy vehicles in the very near future. We are indeed excited as Chery’s vehicle lineup becomes vast with various options for Filipino buyers at the same time making them ready for full electric mobility,” said Froilan Dytianquin, Managing Director for Chery Auto PH.
