Mitsubishi’s Triton and Xforce get iF Design Awards for 2024

Mitsubishi’s Triton pickup truck and Xforce compact crossover won their respective segments in the Product Design discipline of the recently concluded iF Design Awards 2024. This comes as a second win for Mitsubishi who also won in the same discipline back in 2022 with their Outlander PHEV.

The iF Design Awards is one of the most prestigious award giving bodies in the world. It accepted 10,800 entries from 72 countries for 2024 and recognizes outstanding design of many disciplines that ranges from products, packaging, to as modern as web design. 132 judges saw all the entries and rated them based on idea, form, function, differentiation, and impact.

More than an internet lingo, the Beast Mode concept of the all-new Mitsubishi Triton proved to be a standard bearer for one-ton pickup trucks. It has an intimidating stance, sculpted contours all over, modern amenities, all without forgetting cabin practicality and comfort. Special attention was also given to small but key components like the dials that are easy to operate despite wearing gloves along with the grip comfort and sturdiness of the steering wheel and door handles.

The Xforce getting a design nod is not surprising, given that it’s a production car that’s very close to the XFC concept car that preceded it. It bears the latest evolution of the ‘Dynamic Shield’ design of Mitsubishi while having a cabin that’s inspired by the one in the Outlander PHEV.

“I believe each model was recognized for expressing its own character in a unique form – the Triton shows a daring expression, and the Xforce adopts an agile look – while also combining robustness, which is typical of Mitsubishi Motors’ design. This award will become our driving force in introducing the Triton and the Xforce to even more customers,” said Seiji Watanabe, Division General Manager of Design at Mitsubishi Motors.

We Filipinos are lucky that we can experience design masterpieces like the Triton and Xforce locally. The Mitsubishi Triton was launched last January and starts at PHP 1,134,000 while the Xforce is promised to arrive this year.
