The Kia EV9 gets 2 iF Design Awards including highly coveted Gold

The second battery-electric vehicle from Kia gets the highest accolade from the 2024 iF Design Awards. The EV9 was given the Gold Award in the Product discipline, while its infotainment system also bagged an award in the User Interface category.

You probably already know that the iF Design Award is a prestigious design competition that for 2024, accepted around 10,800 entries from 72 countries. What makes the Gold award more exquisite is its limited amount per year, and there’s no fixed amount per discipline. That means the entries will have to be really significant to be bestowed with such a title.

The EV9 is a 7-seater family-oriented EV from Kia. It looks vastly different from the EV6 and features a second row that can rotate 180-degrees, along with a very clean cabin layout.

“The Kia EV9 expands the aesthetic possibilities of a large SUV while advancing its functional performance. Its contemporary form language makes other large SUVs look old-fashioned, while swiveling second-row seats and a variety of smaller functional solutions make life on board more social! Who said sustainable design can’t be exciting?” said the iF Gold statement.

Speaking of smaller functional solutions, the EV9’s infotainment system also bagged an iF Design Award in the User Interface discipline. This meant the jurors found its graphics, typography, visual movement, and overall execution very satisfactory and intuitive compared to others – cars or not.

Kia calls the EV9 InfoSystem as ‘Ki’ and according to them, “it presents an innovative infotainment concept infused with Kia’s new identity, offering a centripetally unified user experience that also improves intuitive usability for electric vehicle operation and charging.”

This isn’t the first time Kia has won in the iF awards. Previous awards were also given in the past for their new Corporate Identity, Store Identity, and Branding. We’re also lucky that their other award winning cars were available in the Philippines like the Sorento, Stonic, Picanto, Rio, and Stinger.

It looks like 2024 might be the year of the Kia EV9 as it is also a Top 3 Finalist for World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle of the Year that will conclude on March 27, 2024.
