Two overseas Filipino workers were killed and four were injured after a car broke through a roadside barrier and plummeted onto a lower road near a Singapore shopping mall on Sunday.

According to a report by The Strait Times, the car crashed through a metal railing before falling onto the side road of the busy Orchard Road next to the Lucky Plaza shopping center, hitting several pedestrians.

“Specific details are being validated but yes, it appears that Filipino victims are involved,” said Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Ed Meñez.

The report said that the 64-year-old male driver of the black Honda sedan was arrested for dangerous driving which claimed the lives of the two Filipinas.

According to the statement of the Centre for Domestic Employees, all six victims were Filipino domestic workers.

In a Facebook video posted by Kim Park, three of the victims can be seen lying unconscious on the pavement near and under the car.

Meanwhile, a CCTV footage posted by District Singapore shows how the incident occurred.

The STAR reported that Meñez said the Home Office in Manila is confirming the latest information on the accident with the Philippine Embassy, adding that assistance will be provided to the victims.
