For The Special Women in Our Lives: The New Mitsubishi Xpander Cross

Mother’s Day is a special day when we celebrate the special women in our lives—including our grandmas, sisters, and aunties. During this day (and the rest of the year for that matter), we should never fail to let them know how incredible they are—in raising children (or fur babies), in managing a home, in taking of the household, and even just balancing work and home duties.

In celebration of these incredible women, the new Mitsubishi Xpander Cross is the perfect companion. Fusing together the best attributes of an MPV and an SUV, it brings functionality and capability into one stylish-looking, hard-working package that’s fit for every woman.

For women with a sense of adventure, the new Xpander Cross gets a strong SUV-like design. The black wheel arch moldings, door garnishes, and side sills give it a taller stance, while the re-designed bumpers, complete with a guard bar motif and high ground clearance give it extra protection when tackling trails or rough roads. Roof rails, which come as standard, allow for the placement of mountain bikes or even camping gear for that impromptu camping trip.

The new Xpander Cross sports T-shaped LED headlights offering better visibility at night. This gives women an enhanced feeling of safety and confidence behind the wheel, especially when going through unfamiliar roads or streets. The uniquely-shaped headlights are also trendy since they’re echoed at the back with the same T-shaped design. New 17-inch alloy wheels and a refreshed tailgate garnish complete the exterior changes.

For women who desire a bit of me time, the Xpander Cross’s new Horizontal Axis dashboard offers a more visually pleasing way to present all the major controls. It also improves ergonomics, supplemented by the new soft-padded material with real stitching. The premium look and feel is matched by fashionable Navy Blue shade found on the dashboard and seats which themselves feature Heart Guard. This allows heat to dissipate, quickly allowing the cabin to cool down faster, making it a great companion even during Manila’s summer heat.

Designed to fit a wide variety of drivers, the Xpander Cross has standard tilt and telescopic adjustment. The 4-spoke leather steering wheel, reminiscent of the Montero Sport, now has faster “return control” for easier maneuverability at low speed and during parking. The new 8-inch LCD digital meter cluster, meanwhile, allows anyone to quickly digest all relevant car information even at a glance.

For those who’re always connected, the new 7-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio (SDA-3) has standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. This allows the hassle-free pairing of compatible smartphones without having to worry about having to import things like contacts, playlists, and the like. Simply plug in and go. Plus, it gives access to popular map and navigation apps such as Waze and Google Maps.

Further highlighting its versatility as a family SUV, the new Xpander Cross has spacious interior room and adaptive seating arrangements. For example, the front center armrest can hold a tissue back on the back of its lid and four 600-ml-sized bottles in the main space. Front row and luggage under trays, multi-function seat-back pockets and third row power outlets are present for additional storage and convenience. The second-row center arm rest features cup holders, while two USB ports—one Type A and one Type C—allow passengers to charge their devices. The cargo hold itself is able to fit four 4-gallon water bottles or a stroller without having to fold the third-row seats.

Providing a balance of power and efficiency, the new Xpander Cross is powered by Mitsubishi’s 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. This makes 104 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque—perfect for jaunts around the city, or even a quick getaway to Baguio or Tagaytay. This is connected to a smooth-shifting 4-speed automatic with cruise control.

The new Xpander Cross also benefits from a wealth of suspension upgrades that improve its handling and safety. It starts with enlarged rear shock absorbers for a more pliant and stable ride. Also new is Active Yaw Control (AYC), which selectively applies the braking force to improve handling and stability. Other standard features include Active Stability Control (ASC), Hill Start Assist (HAS), and Traction Control (TCL). An electronic parking brake with auto hold reduces driver fatigue during stop-and-go traffic, while a reverse camera helps provide visibility when backing up.

Whatever color you end up choosing, and there are four of them for the new Xpander Cross: Sunrise Metallic (2-Tone), Quartz White Pearl (2-Tone), Graphite Gray Metallic, and Blade Silver Metallic, it’s the ideal partner in celebrating women all year long. The Xpander Cross helps you accomplish your tasks and reach your destination comfortably and safely, without sacrificing style. It also provides worry-free ownership so that you can focus on the more important things in life: family and friends.
